Description
Second Little Mermaid doodle for the day~This one is stylistically closer to the movie than my other one, but I still tried to do my own thang. Eric's face is damn hard to draw. My friend Jared can back me up on this! (●⌒∇⌒●)

thank you! :M Ariel's not that hard for me (it's her iconic hair that's the important thing to get right! ... probably helps to have it in colour too, since her red hair is RIDICULOUSLY red~!)
once you realize Ariel and Eric have the EXACT same hair fringe, it's easy to draw both of them~

The hair is easy to draw thats about the only thing that can get to the paper correctly

Beautiful - there's a lot of tenderness in the moment and both characters have such wonderful, realistic expressions. The hair on both is also great!

thank you for the kind words (once again!), good sir {◕ ◡ ◕}
I'm very pleased that you picked up on the subtle tenderness in my work (it seems to be a repeated habit of mine IDKY), as well as appreciate my feeble attempt to add some realism to Disney fanart;; I understand it isn't everyone's cup o' tea! (I can't help it #fail)

= ' 0 Yeah, there aren't any particularly strikingly prominent features of his face or anything peculiar that you can emphasis, so drawing his face *is* really hard. With that said, I think this would have benefited from flipping the canvas vertical and getting a different perspective on the proportions. It just looks a little wonky/long. I dunno.
Still, though it's interesting to look at. Kudos for taking the harder 3 quarter route versus a profile or something alike.
The linework is omgfabulous akin to the Tarzan submissions. I think it was really smart and successful to draw in the individual strands with white from a blocked out black. His hair is just...perfect. Some nice multi-direction linework and crosshatching goin' on too. Weeerk. Don't even get me started on Ariel's eyes. *0* They are so beautiful and expressive.
p.s. as much as I love your b&w stuff,I will throw a wrench at you if you don't try coloring. It doesn't have to be perfect! ;< Just something to set the mood and bring vitality to the work.

Precisely! His face is so perfect that its almost generic ;N; no heavy brows or broken noses or scars here! That's the problem with Disney perfection...
I noted your comment about his face seeming long. 1. I fixed it a bit --> I took off some of his hair on the top of his head (it was originally meant to be dishevaled but w/e), and 2. Maybe it's also because his ear and the back of his skull is below the ground line here? hm :-^
Thank you for the compliments! I picked up the white on black habit (i.e. like his hair) from my print-classes (lino-block) where you have to work in black and white. annoying to work with at first because I love me some detail. Most common response = "...I don't understand what's going on over here... or here..." ; - ;
p.s. BRB, preparing my Wrench-Shield c': I'll TRY to add colour. It won't be OHMYGODAMAZINGGGGGG, so er... be kind <3

i love the sketchiness of this piece.. especially all the details in Eric's face. He might be difficult to draw, but you did a wonderful job capturing him.

Thanks SummerEvening! 1. sketchyness is just waaay more fun for me to work with, TBH, than painstaking rendering IDKY 2. Glad you feel I did Eric a bit of justice!! (he's just so handsome to me, up on that fangirl pedestal of mine, that I feel like I can never get his face right haha #fail)
I appreciate the comment ! (and your avatar reminds me that I need to do some Alice in the future)
