so subtle; and so perfect. the sprinkling of condensation is what makes it for me. the textures are great.

Yeah, it was the pattern of condensation that drew me to take a closer look in the first place before I took any shots. Thank-you for the comment, it's appreciated.

There's something about this that I really do love. The play of color and texture is especially catching my eye.

Hmm, yeah, I never imagined that I could collect such a wealth of potential images from pointing my camera through the window towards the sun in a vague sort of manner, ahaha. Either way I'm glad you like it.

I really do know jack shit about photography, so I find it really impressive that you can make a beautiful image by doing just that. Hats off to you!

Heh; to be honest I'm fairly sure I don't know that much either. I went to college to learn all the technical aspects of shooting and all it did was make me increasingly bitter towards the whole medium. It's so much more enjoyable working from instinct than rote-knowledge.

I'm sorry about the college experience - they're Doing It Wrong (as the meme goes) if immersing yourself in the program makes you hate the object of said program.

That's one thing I'm so happy about in this year of school - the technical aspect of the education is largely over (apart from in technique electives, figure drawing classes, etc) and the creative aspect gains importance with each successive assignment.

Precisely, hah. There's no real scope for creativity; it's essentially death-by-Powerpoint in most courses these days, so you should probably count yourself lucky that you're on what appears to be a still-liberal course. ;)

Eugh. Whoever came up with that method should be shot - when did art stop being about creative expression?

Right about when it started being about results and subsequent college league tables. Ahaha.

Although: one of the tutors at college who doesn't agree with this method of teaching has suggested that it's the students who have changed; that many are so reliant upon being told what to do that they're lost when they're given some creative freedom.

I don't disagree with him either after having witnessed some of the people on my course. It speaks volumes that despite being missing from college entirely since the start of September I could easily have myself caught up in about a fortnight if I had the energy to work industriously at it.

Ah. Verbose response is verbose.

The need for ~*quantifiable results*~ will be the downfall of art in the end. (This is, perhaps, how my school's so far managed to be different; it's a modestly old establishment, and there are enough alumni held up by their own industries as being among the best in their fields that, perhaps, they don't feel the need to change their methods much.)

...This is an interesting point. To think about it, I have seen this in action - the number of people who falter over open assignments is discouraging. (Though their failure is, actually, quite gratifying to me. Ha!)

Pf. You say that as if it's a bad thing.

Check you, all prestigiously-placed.
I'm at the educational equivalent of a warehouse clearance store: stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap.

That does not sound in any way pleasant.

I do, and I appreciate that.

's interesting though as it's one that I'm not entirely happy with. It's probably one I'll return to the digital drawing board at some point in future.

The thick palette feels more like an oil painting than it does a photograph. Which is probably why I like it as much as I do. :F
