Description
Puppy lineart buizel149.deviantart.com/art/P…Extremely basic. I feel weird submitting this. Mostly since I'm rather new to this too. I feel real bad when I see adoptables no one adopts so I hope this helps. If it doesn't... -3- Idk. I actually recommend using a lineart better than mine there XD I was just trying to make an example but I can't draw lately XD The "of death" Thing is just there to look cool o3o don't think it worked there though

If the owner of the lineart/doll allows that, then yes (obviously with the credit). If it's not stated, ask them. Some people allow that, some forbid, so it really depends.

Alright, thank you so much! I checked and she allows it. These are my adoptables, any suggestion for the future?

You can sell it higher as the designs seem complex, and in my opinion are worthy more than plain xP

OK, thank you for telling me - right now there's only one left (the third, the one with the plainest design) but I'll take your advice into account next time.

I know you had been asked that question by others many times but I still don't know about sending them. What if someone didn't give points and just downloads it and how the person buying it will download it/get it? please I really want to know about that

How does the buyer receive the adoptable?
they can click the download button on the side of the image once you give them the okay, or you can email them the full size file or
you can upload a watermarked version of the picture onto deviantart and then click the "premium content" button on the right side of the upload page, and then when you continue to the next part of submitting your picture, it'll ask you for what you want the premium content to be, here you can upload a full sized un-watermarked version. then it'll ask you for the price, and you just write down how many points you want each adopt to sell for. then, when someone goes to buy an adopt, they can click the purchase button where the download button would be, this will send you the points and it'll send the buyer the un-watermarked file!

Hey, I've got some questions... not exactly on the directions, but on the ownership idea itself...
1.) Once purchased.... so like, does the person count it as an OC or...? What happens to the adopted creatures once given to the owner? What is their use or purpose?
2.) What are my freedoms as an Adoptable sales...person... thing..., like am I allowed to keep original design, name etc.?
3.) There seems to be some controversy on prices, now I'm semi-experienced with Photoshop, and I have a batch of adoptables made, and I believe that there're well made... so would 30 be a respectable price... or should I aim a little higher or lower seeing how I made them from scratch?
4.) Say I'm making some pretty common adoptable animals, how would one make them 'original' or eye catching without looking fruity-toodie or redundant? Ya know, if the same people are working with the same ideas, it seems kinda hard to make your adoptables seem like they're the bee's knees. Any suggestions to that?

(SUPER LATE REPLY FROM NOT THE OWNER AND YOU PROBABLY ALREADY FIGURED THIS OUT:,V) Answers:
1.) Depends, Some use adopted pets as their OC's or Fursonas, but they could just use it as an OC if the rules say otherwise.
2.) Since they technically bought the rights from you for the character, not really.
3.) Hmm, I'd say 25 would be a nice starting price, but depending on their design, like if one of my adoptables looked more complex, I'd do 27.
4.) Well, I'd try to insert some old characters that look eye-catching to get the buyer's attention, but I guess try to make the adoptables eye-appealing, like pastel colors, colors that compliment eachother nicely.

I've seen adoptables who cost 100 points. :/
How do I know many points an adoptable is worth?

Arkay9 In reply to PillowRabbit [2013-10-02 18:41:31 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I've seen some on this site hit over $30. It really depends on where you are in terms of your art and popularity, because it all comes down to the people willing to buy designs from you. If you're just starting to make adoptables/ only have a few watchers/ use ms paint, I see most people start off pricing there adopts at between 3-10 points each. after a few months and once you've got more of a following you can start slowly raising the prices. If you do have people watching you for adopts they'll let you know if prices are escalating to fast or too slow. (ex. the first time I sold adopts for points they were 5 points each buizel149.deviantart.com/art/P… , 2 years later I tried to sell adopts for 100 points each but they weren't selling and I was told I priced them too high, so I lowered to 40 and they started selling again, but recently I sold a pony adopt for 200 points buizel149.deviantart.com/art/O… likely because my account began gaining watchers for my pony art) If you are serious about selling adopts make sure that is what your account is focused on. the more watchers you have for adopts, the more demand there will be, and the more you can sell them for.

So, I'm selling an adoptable, and say that someone buys it. How do I give the adoptable to them?

Arkay9 In reply to PillowRabbit [2013-09-14 21:56:24 +0000 UTC]
aww man, sorry if this is too late and you figured it out already ^^' but here's what I told someone else earlier "you usually don't need to send the design unless there's a watermark over it or if the file uploaded to DA is too small, in which case you just send them a note with the larger or unwatermarked file." (which I guess you'd just upload on stash or something)

I have a question~
What do you do with adoptables after you adopt them~?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Arkay9 In reply to bellarella234 [2013-07-22 04:00:29 +0000 UTC]
usually just re-draw them, make a ref sheet, rp with them, edit their designs, or breed them? just whatever you'd do with any character I think.

That is a good tutorial, but I have a question. I know it sounds silly but I really don't know what to do: When someone wants to adopt something, how does he pay? I know dA has that point system, but how does he give the points to me? I already earned some points 'cause I gave some people a Llama. I really don't know so please help!

ok just a few things. One thing is that i use paint. I PrtSc the picture and paste it in paint and try to make the details on the base but I cant. How can you be good at making details? Thx! Btw this helped alot!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Arkay9 In reply to GShepfromLondon [2013-01-06 02:25:23 +0000 UTC]
well if you prnt scrn the picture it'll probably come out all blurry D: uhmmm so to get the best quality you usually got make sure the base is paint friendly (which most are) or that they're the 'pixel versions' or 'paint versions' (if the original was actually meant for photoshop or something) anyway, afterwards you just gotta click the "download image" button to the right of the picture and either copy and paste that on to paint, or save the image and open it in paint. for making details, I recommend looking at other higher priced adoptables and not really copy any of them, but if you see certain patterns that are popular and show up in a lot of peoples adopts such as certain piercings or hairstyles or collars, then you can look at how other people do them, and try to do them in a similar way??? (sorry if that was confusing ^^')

also, are you able to use bases to create adoptables? of course i would give credit, but are you only allowed to use your own?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MsSunnyMuffins In reply to OnionFairy99 [2012-12-29 04:02:38 +0000 UTC]
You can do whatever you want, but in using bases, not only would you need to give credit, but you may want to ask the maker of the base if you can use their base to make adoptables. Bases are more put out just, to color for fun, not to make profit, so ask!
