Description I whipped up this little tutorial for those who have asked how to set up or make their own mangas/comics and or booklets, when I was in college we learned how to hand make our own books to understand the layout and process.

They layout is the most important part when it comes to printing it and the next part of the tutorial will show how to do a simple saddle stitch binding. on your own only using two staples and a ruler.

This is the sort of thing I do at work all day, and yes for every book we make before it goes into the printing machines, we have to do a mock up by hand to make sure the page order is correct, so this is a good skill to learn if you wish to go into any sort of creative field and really is a lot of fun once you learn it since you can then make your own books easy

In fact it's a good tutorial for who doesn't have a lot of familiarity considering that, also imagining it, it loses us among the numbers of the pages. To have it (the tutorial) among the hands is a good solution.

Beautiful job. ^^

(sorry for my bad english T-T)

crillablu [2011-11-17 16:57:40 +0000 UTC]

DANKE! there actually is a way to do it correctly with a number of pages divisable by anything, it's just ALOT more complicated and doesn't perfectly follow the spread :b

BUT THIS IS GREAT and it makes things so much easier when your just whipping something up real quick

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Arkham-Insanity In reply to crillablu [2011-11-17 18:15:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes well if the book is being perfect bound, then you dont have to worry about how many pages you have...and yes you can do it still as saddle stitch but you will have several blank pages at the end of the book...which is fine if you dont mind it much LOL

crillablu In reply to Arkham-Insanity [2011-11-17 20:02:26 +0000 UTC]

yeah haha- don't you love when that happens in professional publishing?

I mostly do my books for profit at fairs and such, so it doesn't need to be perfect.. so yea ^^
they usually turn into more of pamphlets -___-||

CinamonGirl In reply to ??? [2011-11-17 16:57:05 +0000 UTC]

why does it need to be devided by 4?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Arkham-Insanity In reply to CinamonGirl [2011-11-17 18:15:39 +0000 UTC]

so you dont have blank pages at the end of your book

Muffins-Weasley In reply to CinamonGirl [2011-11-17 18:06:03 +0000 UTC]

If it's not a number that's divided by four, you'll have extra blank pages.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CinamonGirl In reply to Muffins-Weasley [2011-11-17 18:06:39 +0000 UTC]

but why 4?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Muffins-Weasley In reply to CinamonGirl [2011-11-17 18:17:26 +0000 UTC]

Because the page is split down the middle, creating two pages, then you print on both sides. 2 on one side + 2 on the other = 4 total pages per sheet of paper.
