Thank you .
I'd like to be sure that, while choosing the themes, I won't give you one with any colours you dislike.

Arrelline In reply to DeeryDeerth [2016-03-24 23:48:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you . Your comment here was quite surprising, but in a good way.
Models 5 and 15 are among my favourites too (I also like 2, 3, 8 and 9). 5 looks a bit Egyptian to me (or it's just because I tried to make her look like that), and 15 has a nice colour combination (cream yellow+blue+violet), I discovered it recently.

I'm glad that you find them at least interesting. It's the first "serious" contest project of my own, so I'm very excited. The basic idea of that contest is that the holder makes doll models, the participants take them (usually choose) and then the holder gives them a certain theme (a different in each round) and they should create for their models an outfit inspired by the theme. Actually my task with the models was just to match face/hair/skin in order to create as much diversing models as possible to be not mistaken for each other. Well, and as long as it's me with my passion for decorating, I couldn't help giving them outfits a little more elaborated than just a swimsuit .

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-03-25 14:31:32 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome! And yeah, I commented since I saw it's something you made. I always like seeing the progress and activity of my friends.
Huh, I'd rather say 5's swimsuit looks Egyptian, but she herself... not so much. She'd require darker skin, eyes and hair to look really Egyptian. Only the swimsuit reminds me of the Egyptian style, honestly. I do agree entirely on the 15th model though! She's got a nice colour combination, plus I like her expression and hairstyle you chose, a lot!

I'm sharing the excitement here! Can't wait to see what happens next with your first contest project. I also read the journal (since I'm also in the group, but by chance, it seems I haven't contributed to it much...), so I know what's up with the contest's conditions. I really like your contest concept though, it should make for an interesting model show here in dA! I approve a lot! I also like how you made their swimsuit thingies a little more than just swimsuits. You have good taste, and I like the ideas you have with all sorts of outfits.

Arrelline In reply to DeeryDeerth [2016-03-27 14:03:51 +0000 UTC]

Ah, you are so kind and considerate! That makes me feel ashamed: after all I haven't commented on any of the pictures you posted recently, even on these what I liked. And didn't answer to your comments...
I'm still going to .

As to the 5th model, actually you are certainly right. I just should have mentioned that I was making her while having in mind my own Egyptian-inspired OC, Anneris, who is supposed to be of mixed origin (child of Egyptian father and European mother) so she may have paler skin/hair/eye colour than a usual Egyptian. And the colour of her outfit, aquamarine green, which is one of Anneris's favourite colours, could hardly be produced at that time. But after all it's my story, taking place in alternative world where even more incredible things are possible .
Anyway, that's why I say that she looks a little Egyptian to me.

What about you being in the group, that's another reason for me to reproach myself for carelessness. I absolutely forgot about that! So you can see the degree of my inattention - I'm not able even to keep in mind the list of group members! And yet I'm ambitios enough to arrange challenges etc... But regarding you, I literally forgot about that, and even if I'd managed to recall that somehow, nevertheless I would never thought that you may be interested in "frivolous" dollmaking things like that (cosidering that you do really know how to draw).

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-03-27 14:50:46 +0000 UTC]

Nah, don't worry about it. Take your time, I can see that you have some business to attend to. Just do the necessary stuff first and then you can get back to replying and stuff.

Oh, I understand. I guess the model is of mixed origin too. And I agree that the turquoise/aquamarine colour was a difficult one to produce at that time. I do get what you mean though, so no worries.

It's quite alright! I guess it's mostly because of me that you didn't notice, since I don't upload digital dolls all that much. I don't think badly of dollmaking though... considering to what level you've taken it! And I like to watch the groups nevertheless because sometimes, people come up with really neat concepts that are pretty inspiring, too. And actually, I do go to Azaleasdolls.com and try out the new makers sometimes... it's just by chance those dolls I've saved never really made it to dA, because I don't think many people would be interested in that, out of my works. I'm not even certain what most of my watchers watch me for... I am really diverse when it comes to dA uploads, so I honestly don't know.

But I feel guilty anyway because it appears that I don't pay as much attention to your artworks as you do to my poor creations! Although regarding the comments, the matter is actually in my bad writing skills: it takes me a lot of time to make a more or less decent comment. And when I say "a lot", I mean exactly that, up to several hours really, depending of the size.

And what about dollmaking... Probably you'll take it as funny offer, but... Well, my mother told me that I could try to invite you to participate in the challenge, since there is one model left... I know it sounds rather odd, but you just said yourself that sometimes you go and try dress-up games... However I know beforehand what you're going to say: first - you will have no time, and second - something about that you're not used to making dolls in dress-up games... You may find another objections as well. Please sorry for the trouble.
But I simply promised her that I at least would ask you...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-03-27 19:55:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, I can only say that I can't force anyone to pay attention to my artwork. It's your time and you know what to do with it. I'm just happy to receive any favourite or comment, even if it's just pointing out the good things I managed to achieve. I don't mind constructive criticism though... I want to improve, and I appreciate any flaw that can be pointed out... by anyone! So it's your choice what or whether you want to comment. Please don't fret about it.

Actually... I take that as a quite good opportunity. I do have a little time, as dollmakers definitely don't take as much time as most of my drawings... and my drawings usually require hours on end to complete. While dollmakers span from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on whether I want to use D&D or not. So I appreciate the offer your mother and consequently, you, made... and I would accept it... but I'm looking at the list of chosen models here and it seems all of the models have already been taken?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arrelline In reply to DeeryDeerth [2016-03-27 22:08:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, the matter is in that paying attention can vary. That is, as to me for example, that I always look at all your deviations, always read all the picture descriptions, journals and memes till the end, regardless of their lenght. And I actually like the overwhelming majority of your creations!  Iit's very rare when I write comments. As I said before, I'm rather bad with words and it takes me a lot of time and effort to write something "considerable". I can just hope that one day I'll manage to comment on at least some of your pictures...

As to the challenge, I'd be incredibly happy if you agreed to participate!
Regarding the models, actually there was one left, the 12th. The trouble is in that I just received a request to join from another member of the group. However I don't know if she would be all right with the model. I asked her about that and hoped to receive an answer quite soon, but now it seems I won't hear anything from her soon enough to let you know tonight. She may agree, but she may as just as refuse...
So I thought, if you really want to participate (again, I'd be happy if you did!), then you can just make yourself a model to your liking, I wouldn't mind. So if she agrees, there will seventeen participants. And if she refuses, you will be the sixteenth one, but with your own model (I should admit, that one with lilac hair isn't actually good or handy as model, so it would be only good if you won't take her). I hope you can see what I mean .

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-03-27 23:35:17 +0000 UTC]

Wow... you really read through all of them? That's... quite lovely to know. I often feel like I write that much for nothing, because I'm never sure whether someone actually reads them... but I'm glad someone does. I just hope my long texts aren't too boring, however. I try to write with all honesty, but at the same time, in a personalised manner. I mean, I often talk to people differently than I write my journals or art descriptions. I hope that's not a set-off or anything.
I do understand if you don't write many comments. I'm quite alright with that. Now that I know for sure you still keep silent watch over my creations... well, that's already very reassuring and nice to know. So take your time, if you ever want to write a comment. Better write a meaningful comment than one just out of politeness only, am I right?
You are right though. Paying attention can vary... even if it's not always apparent. Know that I really appreciate you taking time to even just look at my stuff. I appreciate it lots.

Yes, I do want to participate! Just so that I could share in the fun, and actually make myself useful in the group for once, haha. And ah, the 12th model. I do understand what you mean though... and I wonder what will the other member reply, too. Anyway, in the case she accepts the model, I'll use your permission to make a model of my own. I'll try to make one suitable to the others though... nothing out of the ordinary, if you know what I mean. I'm actually quite honoured to have some liberty to make my own model, seeing as the 12th one wasn't one of my favourites... but I'll try to stick to the theme of the contest as much as possible. I have a few questions about the contest itself though...

When does the contest start? Will we get our first theme as soon as we are certain of the participants (17, with me included then)?
Do we get a new theme each week? By the sounds of it, it seems like the contest will span over a longer time. So we have exactly a week to complete each round, if I understood correctly?

Arrelline In reply to DeeryDeerth [2016-03-28 10:23:19 +0000 UTC]

Yes, as I said, I always look at all of your creations. Actually I enjoy reading your journals and picture descriptions, and I like that you are "personal" in them, as well as your honesty. I just like learning something about you and your character through your texts! Like, for example, I learned recently that you have an adorable cat (that's wonderful) and no light-proof curtains (that's rather inconvenient; I understand you so well here, since my room's window looks to the west and I have no curtains at all). And plus, unlike me, you doesn't sound selfish at all! Everything that you write about yourself and your surrounding, it's always sounds very natural, and entertaining.

As to the challenge, I still haven't received any reply from her. So for the time being I'd count her in, just in case. So you are free to make yourself a model on your own (I'm so curious about what colours will you choose for her appearance!).

The challenge starts as soon as I'll manage to write a journal announcing the first round (hope to post it already today or tonight!).
Yes, you understood it quite right. The participants would get a new theme each week, and respectively, have a week to put their entries. I wouldn't guess beforehands how much rounds will be there (I think at first we should see how the first one goes), but I'm counting on at least two-three rounds. But of course I'd be glad if people liked this and wanted more rounds, because I pondered a bit about the possible themes and found a lot of interesting ones. Because you know, I mostly take inspiration in nature, and the variety of living beings is endless! For example, the first theme is going to be "Butterflies". I searched just a bit and at once found three times more of marvellously beautiful species than it's needed for the challenge...

And one more thing. From what you told before, if I remember correctly, your favourite colours are purple and green and black, you also took a liking to red. What I was going to ask about, just in case, are there any colours that you dislike?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeeryDeerth In reply to Arrelline [2016-03-28 20:31:31 +0000 UTC]

I'm really glad to know that you enjoy my creations and writing. You are kind with those words. I appreciate it, truly. And I'm especially glad that you aren't bored while reading through my texts and writings. It matters a lot, and it's reassuring to know (like I already mentioned before)... so here's an awkward "thank you" for all of those lovely and reassuring words!
Photos of Jass have been around for more than a little while, though... I have some really old photographs of him in my "Photography" sub-folder, conveniently named "Pets". He's always been quite adorable, hehe. And yeah... the pain about sun radiating directly onto the computer screen is definitely familiar to many people, I guess. I don't mind the sun itself though... but especially during springtime, it gets a bit painful to sit near the window during the day.

Ahh, alright. I'll be thinking about the colours for my model though. I guess it would be convenient to upload a preset like you did with the rest of the models first? To give her a preview, I mean. She'd be in a swimsuit similar to the rest of the models. I think it would be only right so that all of the participants are set and ready to give the models custom outfits, just like the contest's themes require. That way I could also ask you if the model looks acceptable and fitting to the other models.

 I understand, thanks!
I see... and the round system does sound quite fair. A week is more than enough for me. I can handle an entry each week, that's for certain. And "Butterflies"... that's a great theme! I love nature themes a lot, since I study zoology. This is definitely going to be interesting! I'll try to find a rare and beautiful species of butterfly to draw inspiration for my model's outfit.

Purple, green and red... those are definitely my first and foremost favourite colours. Black? I don't mind it as a colour, but I might not call it my favourite... though I do tend to use it a lot in my art and stuff. But about the colours that I dislike... hm, normally, I'm rather neutral or I at least like certain colours, but there are some hues I don't particularly like. Moreover, I'd rather say that I dislike certain colour combinations than simple colours. There are a few hues that don't seem to go really well with anything for me... and those are: a really dark yellow tone, a really light pinky-brown tone, a girly kind of bright pink, neon pink, neon yellow... I guess those are a few that I can name right now.

Out of the colour combinations I don't like... there's orange and light blue, orange and a "dirty" green hue, dark blue and bright pinky red, too many pinks at once... that's as much as I can come up with for the moment. I do realise that these two little lists contain pink a lot... but, once again, don't get me wrong - some hues of pink are great. I like creamy/light pink and rose pink. But there are many hues of pinks that are used so often it's become a cliché, really.

so the one i chose, when i do my entry i will have to chose the same face and hair and hair color etc right? and the same base color like she wears blue in this image so her clothes need to have blue or be blue?? im just making sure i know the rules and pick the right one..

Once you choose a model, you should keep her face features, skin tone and hair colour.

In each round you make an outfit inspired by the assigned theme, you can use any suitable colours, regardless of the colour of your model. Also you can change hairstyle and lips/lipstick colour if you find it neccessary for your current image.
