When you are left without any option to bring your ideas into life, you start to think them over even more (after all, it is all that you can do). So once I have got an opportunity to make anything on my computer again, I thought I had to try and make, at least as sketches, some of the outfits of Anne, one of my favourite OCs from ''The True Story'', one of my favourite own stories.
Few of them I already tried to recreate in Snow Scene in 25 days OC challenge - cream, Christmas, Greek, peach wedding and green floral dresses - but these ones are much more accurate versions.

These are the outfits which Anne wears at different points during the story. However, here they are placed not in the cronological order. Instead, I wanted to collect the outfits by themes - the first three are worn on morning, the second three are fancy, the third three are long-sleeved and the fourth - ball dresses.

Morning - quite accurate to how I imagine it to be.
This is the dress Anne wears on the morning after her birthday, when she takes a certain decision that would help to settle her troubles, at least she believes so. But instead, it only makes things more complicated. However, the dress itself is a nice one.
Cream - the stripes on the fabric are actually thin and looking much more dainty.
A special one. This is the dress she wears when she meets the man who would become the love of her life, although at first she thinks quite opposite.
Christmas - I call it so because it is worn on Christmas morning; at this picture it does not shine like it actually should being made of silk.
A nice dress to match the joyful mood of her favourite holiday.
Pastoral - I am quite satisfied with how the fabrics turned out (it is made of two kinds of silk damask).
A fancy dress styled after a 1780s Anglaise gown. It was not purposely made for a fancy ball though.
Greek - a bit rushed and not so well-though drapes. But the general style is spot on, a waist-fitting dress with decorative drapes stitched to it.
The outfit Anne wears at the Christmas Eve carvnival, she goes as Andromeda, the princess from the Greek myth about Perseus.
Indian - almost as gaudy and exotic as it should be | neither she not me actually like the dress, but it was fun to make.
The outfit itself may be nice, but there is a story behind its making which made it impossible for Anne to truly like it. Although she does look lovely wearing it; the delighted admirers compare her to a graceful porcelain doll.
Blue home - the shawl is awful, but the rest is quite acceptable | not her most favourite dress either.
Again, the dress may be indeed a nice and comfortable one. But Anne dislikes it and I get her point - having grown up in a room with dark blue wallpapers and forced to wear clothes in almost exclusively dark blue colour in her early life, just because the others decided for her that dark blue is her colour - it became the symbol of coercion and attempts to dictate her what to do and how to live.
Peach wedding - as neat as I could achieve in a game like Snow Scene | we both do not like it at all, but it was fun to make.
As the note says, there was no wedding then, and Anne knew it beforehand, so she did not bother herself with designing an elegant dress. Instead, she let her relatives to order an outfit modelled according to the last and newest wedding fashions.
Green day dress - nicely and quite accurately done, except for the skirt panel that should be placed a bit higher.
This dress Anne wears when visiting her great aunt. Anne is not exactly spiteful, but she chooses this dress because she does not like her great aunt (who hates green colour because it was the favourite colour of a certain man whom she grew to hate fifty years ago).
Lilac ball dress - I am proud of the pleated neckline! The taffeta did not came out good though
Such a lovely dress! Sadly it is worn on several not-so-lovely occasions.
Sage ball dress - I was lazy to make the folds on the skirt, but the gauze overlay is somewhat acceptable
Another lovely outfit, although it turned out to be too meaningful to wear more than one time (until a certain moment).
Sea ball dress - again, the taffeta did not turn as good as it should be. But I like the fringe.
And one more pretty dress worn with a ruined mood. A common story - a girl put a lot of effort into her dress to look her best at the ball, but found out upon arrival that the man whom she hoped to meet did not come.

Any feedback is highly appreciated, although I already know beforehands that I failed to make the fabrics properly.

Amazing designs! They're so inspiring! My favorites have to be the "Morning Dress" and "Winter Peach Wedding Dress." I noticed that on many of the dresses, you've beautifully elongated the skirt. I've been messing around on the Snow Queen maker trying to achieve a similar effect for one of my OCs, but I've never got it to turn out right. Did you use the blurry/blending circles or am I completely off-base? Keep up the good work!

Thank you kindly for saying that my designs are inspiring   ! I am very glad that you like them
In order to make an extension or a new shape, I usually use a suitable D&D item with sharp edges (hair D&D like here  or, for complex shapes, icicles and gems like here ) and then fill it with blurred circles.

My two favorite dresses:

I adore the shade of blue used and the soft pink details are stunning. I would so wear that dress myself!!!
I just love the color lilac in general and you did a wonderful job with the dress!

I am glad that you like this dress as it is, although it did not turn exactly as it should be. I imagine it to be made of shining  silks and have the cool crisp feeling of a winter dawn.
Lilac is a very nice colour indeed, and I am proud of this dress.

I knew I already had seen a few of them, but the altered techniques to make them definitely were for good. Here we go:

That's a beautiful one, I love the soft colours, and at the same time, it looks comfortable. The pattern is pretty, and so is the cut of the upper part.
I think this one took a great deal of improvement by remaking it. The stripes fit it better than the checkered pattern, and the V-cut is nice.
Lovely job with the lace here! And I like how the shade of blue goes together with that very light pink.
No idea if that was on purpose or just happened due to the snowflakes you used, but I like the shimmering on the fabric makes it quite a beautiful one. Is it intended to be brocade?
It looks much more unsual than the way you made it in the 25 days challenge - those drapes are quite interestung design.
Funny you would say neither Anne nor you like this, because I find it being one of my faves here, the colours and pattering are so lively, and the design has a certain sass about it. Would have chosen another hairstyle for it, maybe, but I definitely love the dress!
Don't think I get either your taste or Anne's - the dress is very nice! Just the right thing to cuddle oneself up in when sitting in front of the chimney on a cold winter's day. Also, the colour combination is a pretty one.
I somehow think this dress would look a great deal better if the sleeves were cut off under the V-thing... anyway, the skirt is marvellous, and while I miss the fine lace from the 25 days draft, I like the colour, the rose brooch and the jewelry necklace a lot.
Huh, I actually think this one has not such a pretty pattern as it had in your first draft. Don't know if you put less time into the flowers this time. It is still pretty though.
I want that dress, and I want it IMMEDIATELY! It is so beautiful! I don't see what's wrong with the taffeta, it actually works out fine in that colour, and the neckline is perfection!
Another good job at colur combination, and that sheer overskirt is cute.
Is that made for a special occasion? I mean, of course it's a ball gown, but it looks like made of a ball with some specific theme. The colour is so gorgeous! And I'm always a fan of fringe, besides, I like the fitting hair ribbon.

Thank you kindly   I am glad that you think that it is good

Well, it is quite accurate to how I imagine this dress to be, except for the colours which should be a bit paler and colder
You are right about the stripes, although I imagine them to be much more dainty
Again, the colours are not quite which they should be. Actually they are paler and shiny like silk, creating the impression of a frosty winter dawn
I am quite satisfied with how the fabrics turned out. It is not brocade but silk damask, like this but darker
It is what it was meant to be, a Greek-inspired dress, a fitted one with drapes for decoration
It should be made of two different Indian fabrics, so the asymmetric drapery design makes it work I suppose. Still it is a ball dress, hence the hairstyle. The outfit itself may be nice, but there is a story behind its making which made it impossible for the heroine (and me) to truly like it
Again, the dress may be indeed a nice and comfortable one, and I myself think it turned out quite well. The reason of Anne disliking it is in her general dislike toward the dark blue colour in general Not that I would have anything against dark blue colour, but I get her point - having grown up in a room with dark blue wallpapers and forced to wear clothes in almost exclusively dark blue colour in her early life, just because the others decided for her that dark blue is her colour - she had too much of the colour to like it
The cut is based on this dress , besides it is a winter outfit so it should have long sleeves. With regard to lace, actually there is lace sewn on all over the fabric.
Ah, yes it was rather hastily made so the pattern is not as neat as in the 25 days version
Well, all right, the dress does look nice and I am immensely proud of the neckline!
The green colour does not look quite like sage which is a warmer shade, but overall I like it
You are partially right. The dress is made of taffeta for''taffeta ball''. I agree about the colour, despite the game does not allow to make it as bright as it should be . With regard to the design however, at that time it did not seem as unusual or exotic as it may look now.

Gotta admit, if there is something I just cannot understand, it's your / your characters' fixation of a colour / style / object to a situation or person. I mean, there are literally billion things in the world having the same colour and billion situations in which you can wear this or that outfit. And nearly all colours are beautiful, so why decide you don't like one just because you identify it so strictly with the situation. Just wear the dress at a more joyful party again, I'd say... no need to hate on something pretty that has after all no fault it just was there in this situation / on this person. Just another opinion.

Arrelline In reply to Eolewyn1010 [2017-09-09 08:40:21 +0000 UTC]

As for me, I actually like the most of the colours and shades as long as they are nicely matched together. Although I have to admit, it does depend on the context, e.g. I dislike bright red in banners/flags but that very shade can be delightful in the bright Indian fabric patterns, or in nature as berries/feathers etc.
With regard to the clothes, I am not that rich to cease wearing some of my outfits that would bring negative reminiscences. Plus like you said, it is not the fault of a pretty piece of clothing that it was once worn at some unfortunate situation - the nice silky cranberry red colour of my coat does not become worse because of it being once worn to an awful school or funeral, right?
But I thought it would be just the right quirk for an OC from the story where, to be honest, everybody is odd, to bigger or lesser degree.

As always, your dress designs amaze me! I missed seeing your designs! And it still astounds me how you can make such beautiful designs and accessories with drag & drop only! I absolutely love the necklaces, headpieces and belts for all designs! Not to mention that adorable teacup with the morning dress. And the veil with the wedding dress... wow!

My absolute favourite designs here are the pastoral, greek, green day dress, lilac, sage green and sea ones! The pastel dresses are very nice as well, but I'm not a big fan of the pastel colour palette... I like stronger accents, even though pastel colour schemes are great for gentle-looking designs.

Thank you kindly   I am glad that you think that it is good    And the teacup, of course you had to notice it!

With regard to your favourites, along with the morning one, they are my favourites too.
Basically I like the most of these outfits (although not all of them turned well), because they were designed to my liking.

The ones I do not like though, I designed them purposely to be like that because in the story (and all these outfits are from the story) these outfits - namely, the Indian, blue home and peach wedding dresses - are made ignoring the heroine's tastes and opinion, and since the heroine's fashion tastes are based on mine ones...well, you get the point.

Regardless the picture, I myself like both strong colours and pastel ones, it is all the matter of  nice colour matching.
