's Model ChallengeWilhelmina Becker is the daughter of Anastasia Becker née Tremaine and Wilhelm Becker. (The Baker that Anastasia falls in love with in Cinderella II, and this is the name that I gave him.)
Ok, to start with this round took me the absolute longest to complete. I had plans, dammit. And I stalled mind wise. I was tasked with making a dress from the Civil War Era. And I pretty sure that it was the U.S. Civil War Era. I was given this image: but it didn't speak to me. And in this round we didn't have to stay with the pic that we were given but to stick to the era. So on to google I went. I had wanted to do a Scarlet O'Hara type dress , but the white ruffle just wouldn't work with me. So back to the drawing board. I made a dress while still in the brainstorming stage that looks like it would fit more in the Scottish Highlands , so I changed Mina's looks on it into Alina's and then moved on.
The first of the three dresses that I finally made is travel clothes that I didn't really base off of any picture just my own ideas. Since I was making travel clothes, I wanted the colors darker. But still with a pattern.
The came my ballroom gown. I based it off of this dress. I wanted something with a southern belle type feel to it. This took a while to do, and the ruffles at the bottom are not quite like I want them but it works.
And lastly the dress that took the longest. I really thought about deleting this damn dress many many times. Finished it looks great but It killed me making it. I based it off of this dress that I saw it was under the title of Civil war ball gown reenactment. It looks more like a day type dress then a ball gown, but... what do I know? It's not a prefect remake but I do like how it turned out. Mina looks a lot older in this dress and hairstyle though.

I really like how they all turned out even if they did give me a lot of troubles while making them. I was quite a scatterbrain when I was trying to pick what design to use for this round and ended up with three, instead of the two that I was planning on doing at first. I might try to make the Scarlet O'Hara dress at a later date.
The pattern on the last dress is evil, evil I tell you. But she just looks so sophisticated wearing it that I'm really glad I stuck with it.

Im glad that I went through with my original idea and did more then one dress. Even if I ended up doing 3 instead of 2 like I had first planned.
The last one on the right is my fave of the three even though it gave me the most trouble making it.

I'm glad that I'm finally finished with all three, and not a moment too soon. My computer needed to restart, and I had been putting it off for a while.
I wanted a fairly simple pattern for the first one cause I was still brainstorming on which dresses I of the ones that I googled that I wanted to use. I like how the other two dresses turned out. The waist area on the green dress had given me a little trouble. Lol, I love the tiara that I gave her on that dress.
Oh, coolies that is where the green dress is from. Awesome! eh, a little past the era I was shooting for but close enough. It was my compromise dress cause the white ruffle dress was not working with me. I haven't watched Vampire Diaries yet, It's on my list of plan to watch stuff. But a lot of those things on that list I have to be in the mood to watch.

OMG, all of these are beautiful! And, your instincts were right about the third dress you were using for inspiration. It IS a day-dress, not a ball-gown. However, you still did a wonderful job on it! I love how you did the oval pattern on it! The green dress (which is more like a ball-gown) also turned out beautifully! And her traveling dress is adorable.

Oh good, I'm glad that I was right that it was a day dress. Yeah, that oval pattern made my brain try and revolt several times while working on it. I was to cover up the areas that just tried to smushed together with the yellow diamonds. I'm really glad that it came out as well as it did.
Yeah, I really like how the green ball gown turned out. I kinda had a few ideas on changing it while I was working on the last dress. But it would have been a fresh restart idea, and I wasn't going to do that.
Yay, I'm glad you like the traveling dress as well. I was guessing on that one on if it would fit in the time period. But I liked it to much to leave it off. I made it after I had made the Scottish highland one that I ended up putting Alina in.
Yes, even with all the headache that this gave me, I love all the end products.

Yeah, I think that one is my fave as well. Even if I cursed it's very existence while I was working on it. I'm really glad to be done with it. I'm happy that stuck with it though and finished this one.

Yes, yes it did. Hence why that design took so long to finish and I cursed it the whole time! It looks good finished, but that is not a design that I have any thoughts on attempting again. And the middle of each rows towards the center of the dress are smushed which I was able to kinda hind with the yellow diamonds. Bleh. I thought about stopping at the row of tan roses for a while. And also thought about making a white apron about two rows up from the tan roses.

I really couldn't pick just one that I wanted to do. After I finally finished all of them I think that the last one is my favorite as well. Even though I hated it while I was working on it. I'm glad that you like them.

Thanks! I really thought with how much trouble the last two designs had been giving me that I was going to be late with this round. Glad to see the back of this one. I think I broke me brain several times while working on the last one. I just couldn't get the motivation to really work on it. So it sat half finished for days, with little to not progress being done. I finally toughed it out and did the top half of the skirt and adding in all the yellow diamonds.
I'm glad that you like all three designs. Wasn't sure if anyone would like the first one or not.
