I heard about the new Sonic Genesis comic series. Also heard about Sega trying to re-market Sonic correctly and stop making poor games. So I made this in tribute! XDCheck out my other Sonic work:

The S&K team they made in the plot heavy games could work. I mean despite being against each other in S3&K, in the end they both hated Robotnik so it would make some sense in a true sequel.
I'm not sure when I'm getting it back as of now but your pic inspired a poorly done (actually unfinished) airbrushed panel I did of Angel Island when I was forced to enter an art contest.

Yea, it was a fun relationship in those days...no talking, just fighting and hell raising, I felt so bad for knuckles when robotnik took the master emerald! haha ohhh such a damn good game....

I've got a genesis sitting here, Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic and Knuckles... but no Sonic 3!

This is an interesting piece. The only problem I have with it is that the Death Egg is supposed to be lodged in the volcano on the top of Angel Island. And if you think about the scale of Angel Island vs. the Death Egg, it's only a part of the background of the first act of Launch Base Zone Act 1 compared to all the rest of the zones on Angel Island, which are just as big as Launch Base Zone. Not trying to be nit-picky, just going on my thoughts. Again, nice picture.

I am not expecting much from Sega in fixing sonic, which is why I love deviant art. People on this site do justice to the true Sonic and you my friend are not an exception. Awesome stuff.

Woah, have not been keeping up with Sonic happenings, what is this Genesis comic series and game re-marketing you speak of?
As for the piece, I really admire the hazy look it has overall. It works to make it look both foreboding and like a mental image from memory. Of course the best element is the simple idea of the glowing Death Egg eyes shining through that dirty fog, and the reflected red light upon the island. Nice!

oh and I guess Sega is pulling sonic games off the shelf for good! Trying to make his brand better. I think of Sonic as a Ford or Chevy trying to keep their names alive among the competition...I hope this plan works!

My favorite Robotnik is the SatAM one, which is the one I think you're referring to. That guy was wonderfully dark and evil.
