Oh, and I also plan on making a "prequel" that explains Godzilla's origin, the aliens that created him, and the probe monsters, as well as the aliens that employ them. This will take place when Godzilla is first created and when the first probes land on Earth.

As you've seen, I'm working on a fan made rewrite of the script. I've been able to fix most of the problems of the script that I have heard about. Examples include:

1. Godzilla does not have enough screen time. This was a simple problem, I simply added more scenes involving Godzilla and I also made Godzilla a bigger part of the story.

Your problems with the script:

1. Godzilla would attack the village in search of food. This would occur several months after his release. I wasn't able to fix the hiding element though. BUT I do show where he was right before he heads th San Fransisco.

2. I fixed the "super hero" feel by making Godzilla more of an amoral anti hero. Imagine him to be like Gamera in the 3rd heisi film crossed with Godzilla from Godzilla vs. Mothra (showa version). Yes, he's amoral, and it's made even worse by his accident prone, massive frame. It also gives a reason to why Godzilla attacks, he is either uncaring/unoticing, or he senses a threat, like in Godzilla vs. Mothra. Godzilla, much like Gamera, is an antihero on a mission in my version. He is on a mission, and is willing to kil or destroy anything that gets in his way, as seen in the fight with the Navy.

3. I wasn't able to fix Godzilla's genetic origins without it making the story seem cluttered or making Godzilla seem like he has noreasons for his action.

What do you think?

1. Godzilla doesn't need to be on-screen for the film to be interesting. I don't mind human drama if it works, although its success or faliure might depend on the actors.

I like those ideas. My responses are:
1. Why wouldn't Godzilla just eat fish on the way? What about when he destroys the ship early in the film?
2. I like that alot better. If that was how he was portrayed in the 70s late Showa films, wouldn't be accusing me of bastardizing Godzilla. Don't have him save the main characters in the helicopter. It contradicts what the characters said about not noticing humans.
3. He's no longer a superhero, so he doesn't need a reason to be one. The genetically-engineered-by-aliens origin sucked and raised too many unanswered questions. Who were they? Where did the aliens come from? Why did they come to Earth? When did they come to Earth? Where did they go? When did they make Godzilla? Why did they chose to make their guardian a dinosaur with plasma breath? Did they create the Gryphon? If they didn't, then who did and what was their relation to the race that created Godzilla? When did they create create Gryphon?
Anyways, if G has to have the alien-genetic-engineering origin, then why not have him be buried in the South Pacific (which helps to answer my first question in this post) where he is released from his womb by a nuclear bomb blast, which helps to avoid ripping off Showa Gamera and still has some connection to nuclear weapons.

Also another problem I had with the script as R & E wrote it, was Godzilla was a walking stereotype. Godzilla stereotype: Green Fire-Breathing Superhero. R & E Godzilla: Green Fire-Breathing Superhero. It was also a ripoff of the much better Gamera: Guardian Of The Universe, with additional scenes ripped off of the Showa Gamera films. If you were change Godzilla to Gamera (and added scenes in which Gamera was depicted flying in normal and saucer modes), noone would know the difference.

Here are my plans for the first two sequels, making 3 movies right now. I plan to make at the MOST 6, including a prequel revolving Godzilla's creation, the race that created him, and the aliens first attack. Here's the journal:

First, please give these alien races some names.
I read your summary and it sounded more like Ang's creators show up in the present. Could you make a timeline so that I can piece it all together?
You said you might make 6 films, so do you have some ideas for films 4-6?

Gareku In reply to Godzilla2014 [2009-06-07 15:09:23 +0000 UTC]

Well, as you have known my project has gone under HEAVY rewriting to include another monster instead of Godzilla.

Now, we have a new monster named Jiragon, a monster created by an ancient civilization from dinosaur genes and organic technology to defend the Earth from aliens.

Oh, and to clear some things up he's defending the EARTH, not humanity.

Oh, and I've decided to name the ancient civilization the "Kyrill', as they were called in actual concept art, and the aliens will be called the "Cimberans", their queen being Mettellin.

Okay, the ancient civilization are the Elias and the invaders are the Xilians. It might be a while before I set up a time line.

I'm going to update the journal today with the second half. You should check it out

Godzilla does not need the excess spikes, but otherwise good.

Gryphon sounds good too.

I would comment more in depth, but I really need to see something, I am a visual person.
Why don't you try to draw them out? I know that you believe that you lack the artistic skill to draw them, but I also wish to be a better artist. You won't get better at drawing by not drawing at all.
I apologize for the evasiveness.

Thanks for the critiques.

Well, my drawing skills suck, but I'm paying to draw some sketches of them for me. I'll tell you when their up

You wouldn't have to draw it to allow others to visualize it. You know, draw it ourselves in our minds. You could do something similar to , if you are familiar with that, does with his monster studies, but with the original pictures instead of your sketches. Use arrows to point to the aspects of each drawing you want to be in your design. That would help not only me but when does the commission, it'll help him to draw the design correctly.

If your telling me to compare the designs to the monster studies,
1. My version of the Gryphon is based mostly on this version: [link]
2. Imagine my Godzilla to be BASED on a mixture between the GFW Godzilla build wise, and this slimmed down version of the Mccreery model: [link]

I can try, I'll take the pictures I've uploaded already and add design specifics from my versions in the artist comments.

1. Well, in an issue of G-fan I read that Godzilla should have had ore screen time in the script, and due to this, it felt like he was upstaged by the Gryphon. While the Gyphon will still be a big element in the story, I'm going to try to not have him upstage Godzilla so much.

2. Just a note, he will have some humorous qualities, like in the script, but not in the way that it would be lame and campy. It would be more like the deadpan humor in the script (Godzilla stepping on people, etc). Well, the saving the heroes part of the end will show Godzilla having more of a curiosity towards the situation instead of a heroic thing. But I will still consider removing it.

3. For the most part, he'll just be defending the planet as his territory. As for the questions about the aliens, I plan to make SEQUELS to the script, so more will be explained later. No, they did not create the Gryphon, a rival race did, at least in my version. I will be introducing the rival race later on. In my story, the rival aliens have always been producing genetic probes, the Gryphon being one of their byproducts.

4. If I change it to the south seas location, it might become too complicated (not sure why). But if it is done, I think I might throw in a reference to the Godzilla 3-D project from the eighties and have it work like this:
A satellite in space is hit by a meteor, the satellite fires a nuke, nuke awakens Godzilla. But still, I'll probably keep the arctic salvage ship scenario.

5. I've already fixed the stereotype problem in my script rewrite.

6. Here are some monsters I'm thinking about introducing in the (at least) two sequels:
1. Anguirus. My plan is to have a civil war between the earth aliens. One side creates Godzilla to defend their half of the planet, and Anguirus to defend the other. At first, Godzilla and Anguirus will fight, but later team up against a bigger foe...
2. Gigan. In my story, the Gryphon is only the first line of attack for the aliens. Gigan is a high rank mercenary obtained from another race (still thinking this over)
3. Megalon, will be alongside Gigan
4. Another Probe monster, possibly Biollante(?)
5. Higastron, similar to the Planet Eaters:
[link]
Will probably be a mutated alien general or even the king.

What do you think?

You have a lot of great points. But still, I like the De Bont version more than what Dean and Roland gave us. Oh, nice redesign by the way.

So, what are some MINOR things you would do to make the script better. I myself am working on my own version of the script. Here's one of my journals for it:

What do you think? And here are my designs for Godzilla and the Gryphon, which I will have :iconKaijuSamuria: draw for me:
