Description
Graphite drawing. Aproximately 13x19 inches. It took four scans to get it all into the computer. I loved working on this, although the shoulders were really hard to figure how I wanted them to look and were a major struggle.Thought about calling this QUEEN!! because she is every bit a Queen, but it seemed to simple.

Thanks so much. I really was concentrating on that, trying for that smooth, supple skin effect over powerful muscles and shoulders. It's one of the few drawings I felt satisfied with.

this is an absolutely exquisite picture. everything looks so precise, (unlike smeared, when i use graphite) soft, and smooth. i guess it kinda gives me a warm feeling inside

I love all the detail you worked into your shading, especially the shaping of the musculature on the dragon. The wrinkles where the neck bends and the ripple of muscle on the shoulders are very nice! The dragon's eye is quite gorgeous too. I like the overall composition, how the dragon's neck leads you to the girl in the centre of the picture. The sublte details like the folds in her top and the hair billowing really add some dimension to it. I love the overworking of the shadows on the parts of the dragon at the edge of the picture, it kind of focuses the drawing to the middle.
Fantastic piece of rendering! you are so talented with graphite, it's all so smooth.

Thank you so much for taking time to collect your thoughts about my drawing and sharing them with me. I really enjoyed reading what you liked about it. Some of them, such as the wrinkles on the neck or the muscles on the shoulder I really either struggled with (shoulders) or just plain had fun with (neck). As far as the overworking, it does have that effect, but what i really wanted was to push those massive shoulder forward and to give the drawing a solid base. Again, thanks for the comments and the time.

Wow. Being a huge fan of the Pern series your entire gallery causes me to geek out a little bit... but that aside you have some of the most amazing mastery of the pencil that I have ever laid eyes on, and I can only aspire to one day being half so excellent.
This one will find a nice home in my favorites and I hope you'll not be overly offended by my adding you to my watched list.
