I have to agree this redesign is incredible. I also have to agree i'm getting a Dr. Manhattan feel which is ironic since Manhattan is based on Atom. But i'd be fine with having a slightly altered Manhattan in main DC. That seems to be what's happening with Atom.

Love that the symbol is now an actual energy emission, but the flaming hair..meh. I'd rather he have his normal silver hair.
The "new" persona they've given him seem cool from what i've been reading online. More of a badass and less of a "i've got to live up to Superman's standards" type of guy.

This reminds me of what happened to Dr. Manhattan. When he fought in Nam some people worshiped him as a god and everyone started stock pilling nukes just in case they unleashed him on them.

No it wouldn't. In that universe I'd be terrorified. Watchmen had it right in the realistic sense if a super human fought for his country. SOme would say they are unleashing a god, and it would really make everyone in the world uneasy. That's kind of why the Justice league had it right to not get involved with politics.
