Description This is an alternative concept to my previous image, "The Exit": arthurblue.deviantart.com/art/…
Like that one, this is also a sequel to "Awake": arthurblue.deviantart.com/art/…

During the making of "The Exit" I thought of several possible concepts. In the end I had to opt for one (that's always tough) but I thought that this one now also had some potential so I developed it a bit. To be honest, I even think I prefer this one.

In the other images I received several messages and comments about the material I used for these red lines structures. These structures are not made with materials, they're made with actual 3D geometry. The red itself is just a color (sometimes with some slight reflections) applied to a piece of 3D geometry. Inspired by all these questions, I decided to make this more obvious in this image. So now you can see the red lines isolated from the surrounding infrastructure in some areas, so that you can actually see that there's 3D geometry behind.

Rendered in Vue, as always, with very little post-work.

EDIT: A DD, wow! Many thanks to little-billie for suggesting it and to PolyMune for featuring it.

I just can't get over how gorgeous and inviting you make the water look 8D I'll bet the sound it made flowing through that channel in that oval chamber would be amazing >w<

I also love the surreal feel to your sci-fi pieces.

I hope you have a good time browsing the gallery.
That surreal feel you mention - I like to think of it as a little place where real, surreal and unreal meet.

the woman standing by the canal, just gives the render that bit more.

Very cool! I like the consistency in theme and style between the three images, but this one is so much cooler with what you did with the water. This one has that kind of M.C. Escher design to it that I really like.

This is, again, a wonderful image. But since you give your thoughts on your design decisions, I want to offer a critique:

I like the red lines better when they integrate into the wall as they do in the other images and in the foreground here. They have better color then, they glow, which in turn makes the flesh color of the wall more beautiful. Here, in the background, the wall and red tubes appear dull and unattractive.

But the overall concept is beautiful and the execution is stunning. I especially love the outside landscape and how the architecture frames it.

The only part that irritates me, regarding the title "exit" and the perpective, that leads us out of the building, is that there is no obvious path from the clothing in the foreground or from the bridge to the outside. How does the person on the bridge get out? How did the person dropping the cloth get down?

and again I love what you did (even if you dismantled the secret of the orange stripes )
I love how it leads my view from the foreground with that sheet which is almost giving a kind of...intimate touch, into a wide open gateway into a shiny future.
Beautiful.

I really like the other one. Im not a fan of multiple people in this because the whole series seemed so lonesome; however, since this is supposed to be like the exit of this world, it does kind of show that the character is finally 'free' because there are finally other people...oh, unless all of those are her, just in different positions. I love the series though! and the way the water goes over the edge but doesn't pour smoothly like a water fall makes it seem that gravity just shifts maybe at that point.
