ability notes
glitch's actual body is composed of synthetic chaos liquid in a mostly-hollow chassis. this liquid can change shape, stretch, and deform for combat, to keep its core (located in its chest) safe. its hardware is completely waterproof and resistant to everything from crumpling to denting to being scratched.

it can operate independently of its chassis (see "no frame"), but because it is vulnerable, it doesn't tend to want to stay like this.

powered by a chaos energy engine, it has no need for rest, sustenance, or charging. it is also a substantial source of chaos energy in and of itself.

it can sense external sources of chaos energy (rings, drives, other chaos-powered robots). is somewhat compelled to consume them and absorb their power for its own; it's unknown what would happen if it was in close contact with a chaos emerald.

its limb casings (the black tube-like parts) are able to extend to a surprising degree to facilitate its ability to stretch for combat purposes.

it learns incredibly quickly; it has G.U.N.'s entire non-classified information library preloaded, and it absorbs new information extremely quickly.

extremely physically strong, as you might expect from an advanced robot powered by hydraulics-on-steroids.

personality

curious, polite, patient, and gentle. doesn't often get bent out of shape, literally or figuratively; is often very calm even in extreme situations, but doesn't really like loud noise and lots of things happening. likes chao and small animals.

being a robot, is not terribly overburdened with a loud personality, but it absolutely has a personality. it gets extremely offended when it is treated as an object or when people act like it doesn't understand things like sarcasm. it can actually get kind of sassy when condescended to.

if its core is damaged or disturbed (usually when it takes a hard enough blow to the torso), it has a chance to enter a berserker rage slightly reminiscent of the creature it is based on. when this happens, it has no regard for the safety or integrity of any people or property around it. luckily, it's still glacially slow, and all it takes is a brave person kicking it in the chest to reboot it.

backstory

constructed by G.U.N. and based off of the Artificial Chaos robots created on the ARK, glitch was originally intended for combat. the test type for a mass-produced line of robots, it was not originally intended to have free will, but funny things happen when you try to harness the power of a god of entropy for your beep boop robot. it behaved erratically and unpredictably when activated, and would sometimes enter a berserker state with no regard for property damage or human life during combat testing-- whenever its core was damaged. attempts to deprogram this behavior were only half successful; while they managed to bring its eraticism under control, nothing seemed to prevent it from going abloodyhoo crazy when its core was struck.

G.U.N. were in a bit of a pickle, because hey, you try employing E-123 Omega and not worry about the ramifications of sweeping a self-aware robot under the rug.

in the end, after a great deal of deliberation, it was easier to deprogram its tendency to seek out battle and reinforce the protections surrounding its core. the test type was not violent or malicious in any other circumstances, and so by reducing its chances of being in a combat situation and putting it on extended probation seemed to be the best option available to them. it now lives on what is essentially extended parole.

because the head scientist heading the project affectionately calls it 'little glitch', it refers to itself as 'glitch', because 'synthesized chaos-based automaton a-001 [test model]' is a bit bulky.

it was followed by a line of mass-produced robots (synthesized chaos-based automatons a-100 [production model]) that are similar, though not identical, and that completely lack self-awareness. it has a fondness for them like one has a fondness for a roomba; it quickly gave up trying to hold conversations with them. it copes really well with having hundreds of near-copies of it without any sense of awareness in circulation, though.

uses 'it' pronouns. this is only acceptable because it's a robot. it also responds to masculine pronouns.

i like putting scanlines on its eyes, but this isn't required if you're drawing it.
