Do you ever cut out the horse to put on another background?

It's a good tutorial and your ideas for mustle tones are helpful. I have already been experimenting with that, but hadn't thought to use different layers.

Lovely tut!
I already knew how to manipulate [been doing it for about a year now], but i was just wondering, if you could explain how exactly, how you added the 'muscle tone'?
Thanks.

I create 2 layers and I connect them to the horse by alt+ click inbetween the layer and the horse layer. that makes sure that it stays within the horse. Then I use black on one layer for the parts that go "in" and use white on the other layer for the parts that come "out" if that makes any sense xD

then you mess with the settings for those two layers... usually its soft light or overlay but ive had a few on multiply or pin light
