Boy has it been a while since I last posted a reference sheet!
Many of you have been asking for these, but I was always afraid of spamming people with unnecessary info.
Are you guys still interested in seeing reference sheets for the two comics? If you are, get ready, because there's a ton of them! First, I want to update them all though, since many of them are old and not up to par anymore.
Anyway, meet the latest-introduced characters in Africa, Faida the hyena and her trustful follower, Badru.
Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE hyenas? They're cute and terrifying at the same time! Incredibly powerful and cunning animals.
Also, baby hyenas are adorable and are practically mini Tricos. Seriously, look them up.
Random chit-chat aside, here's a few more facts about these two giant puppers!
- Faida and Badru are roughly the same age (12), but Badru's emaciated look makes him appear much older.
- Despite being the head male, Badru's rank is still lower than that of any female in the clan.
- Faida's name comes from Swahili, but it's also a word from my native language, Italian. Interestingly, both translations of the word work very well with her character!
- Also "Faida" sounds a lot like Fido, only as a girl. Now I can't unhear that.
- And last but not least, hyenas are not canines! Ugh!

Hyenas are Hyaenidae ^^ They're basicly the same mix as foxes, only that their feline similiarities connect to the bigger cats.

Hyaenidae is the Family, Crocuta is the Genus, and Spotted Hyenas specifically are Crocuta Crocuta. Arven's not wrong.
Not sure what you mean by saying they're the 'same mix as foxes', because foxes are canines, while Hyenas are Feliformia (cat-like)

I never said she was wrong? I simply stated their family, since she added to her fun-facts that they were not canines? It was more of a fun mention that I share her interest in the specie, I'd never attack her. Calm down.

What I meant by the foxes is that they're similiar in way. Their structure is more of a mix between smaller felines and canines, instead of purely canine. At some point I believe I read that they have their own family, but I did a check and saw that I was in the wrong.

I suppose you could see it that way, though foxes do resemble other lithe canines like jackals and coyotes - but canines and felines are indeed both Carnivora, so there's bound to be similarities like that... Essentially, you're not wrong (:

I think they meant that it's like how foxes are dog hardware running cat software, though I see Hyena's being more the other way around (cat hardware adapted to run dog software)

It really is accurate though. Foxes are what happens when a canine evolves to fill a small-medium feline position in an environment.
