Drawn for *Dwelian of her gorgeous character, Fahren. Done for EquineXChange on LiveJournal. Check it out if you like to draw horses! I saw Dwelian post information on Fahren and thought, what a cool character! She was fun to draw, though challenging. The pose I picked was difficult, in case you're curious. The hindquarters are off, but other than that I'm quite happy with her. The background was something totally new for me, it was done in watercolor pencils, then went over with colored pencils. Fahren is just colored pencils. Feel free to critique and off suggestions, but this is totally done! Download to see a slightly bigger version.Referenced from ~absurdus 's picture, Stoney .

Wow! LOVE the contrast of his deep red coat and the green background-- fantastic hair-- great movement-- just generally epic! The tree canopy looks a little low, but maybe it's a perspective thing.

Yeah, I tried to ground them a little with shadows, but didn't do quite enough. And the whole hindquarters section is off, but eh . . . Too late to fix anyway and she still looks fairly decent.

The only little thing I would criticise is the horn, which is almost invisible, but as I said just a little thing.

Thank you very much! And I don't draw a lot of horns. I was worried about keeping it in perspective with the angle of her body. Kinda tricky, and I'm always looking for tips! I appreciate the critique, too, it's a great way to learn!

really lovely work on the horse! however, may I offer a suggestion on the background? perhaps it should darken as it goes toward the horizon, just to give a bit of a sense of distance
