Drawn for *Dwelian of her gorgeous character, Fahren. Done for EquineXChange on LiveJournal. Check it out if you like to draw horses! I saw Dwelian post information on Fahren and thought, what a cool character! She was fun to draw, though challenging. The pose I picked was difficult, in case you're curious. The hindquarters are off, but other than that I'm quite happy with her. The background was something totally new for me, it was done in watercolor pencils, then went over with colored pencils. Thank you! I used Prismas, and a brand of watercolor pencils whose name I don't remember, then went over that with more Prismas. I don't branch out too often . . .

Prismas are a brand of colored pencil. One of the more expensive, I might add! It's a great brand, but when you get into the big boxes of colors, you can plan on spending about a dollar a pencil. At 72 counts or higher, that's a lot of money! But they're great pencils. Once you get a bigger box, then you can just maintain your color collection. Or get a 12-pack and slowly build up as you need colors. Crayola are okay as far as colored pencils, but Prismas blend much better and I think they have a better color collection. I'll add a list to the image description later tonight, so check on it later!

I got one set of 72, then I add some every once in a while. That's not much of a hit, after that first whammy, anyway . . . And yay!

Thank you! Someday I might get around to it, but I know it won't be this year. Most of the time, I just get so caught up in finishing, I don't pause to scan in the different steps. But I am happy to know that people are interested in one!

Thank you! Those are just part of the character's description. I wouldn't have thought of them on my own, but I might incorporate them in another piece. It was fun! I was worried about that mane at first, but I love how it came out.

This is great! Fahren is such a beautiful subject, and you make her so graceful! I can't see how you went wrong with the hindquarters either, but I suppose thats just how artists are programmed to think
