Description I made a basing tutorial at the request of a few people since they wanted to know what my process for getting fur and such was. Really, it's a step by step of me doing a base for Frisk, but ya know... I wrote words of what I was doing. Except you can't really read them because it's my hand writing. Ahhh... sorry...

The tutorial and all progress shots can be seen here: sta.sh/213nddnuxk55
And here is a link to the tutorial itself: orig06.deviantart.net/4e1f/f/2…
And the post on FP: www.furry-paws.com/forum/topic…

My writing is really bad, I'm so sorry...

So yea, I hope that helps anyone who has been trying to get a basing style down! If you have any questions please ask! And any other artists who have advice on basing, it'd be great to hear or see what you do!

I got really lost at the part where you made the lumi layer ; ^^

I'll assume that's for one of two reasons:
a) You aren't using SAI and you don't have luminosity layers, or they don't work right or something. Use an overlay layer instead.
b) My methods are confusing, stupid, and complicated but I'm lazy. Pretty much what I did was select all area that wasn't shaded, painted some lighting into that area, and used that as my luminosity layer. If you aren't lazy just do it like the basing part but with a different layer type. What I did for it will only work in SAI and make absolutely no sense, but in the same way that my programming derails into unneeded complexity I take this backwards method of using black and white in the layer to eliminate the parts I don't want lit.

Ooh, I see! I use SAI and have for a long time, so that's what I thought you were getting at with the black and white but I was still just confused! I get it now though, so thank you!

Yea, I know a lot of people have trouble with basing so I thought I'd share my method for it!

Ok so yea that writing- that one line- took pretty much a whole minute.
So um yes.
I don't normally try that hard to write, but I thought that should be legible so I made effort and everything.
But that writing is a lie.
The rest is my actual writing...
