Description
Imported the helm into DAZ and installed it into the Bridge of the Week set until I can get the rest of the Phase II bridge set up. I need to work on a Bridge of the Week for the TMP era anyway, so this works. I think I might need to tinker with the lighting on the console itself, but overall, I think this part of the refresh was a success. One thing I'm considering is collapsing anything that's not a button down to a texture to cut some of the polygons and thereby cutting render time, in theory.Built in TrueSpace 3.2
Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.10 with iRay

I have only one question... WHERE'S THE OVERRIDE?! THE OVERRIDE! *tense music as Reliant's shields drop*
(And yes I know the Reliant's helm is a variant of one pictured ).
I applaud your attention to detail from the films (such as the ship direction/heading on the left), especially with the controls which are really just coloured shapes with things like WARP PWR (thinking of STII again). Well done! Very inspiring for interiors of my Miranda Class-A .

Well, now we know why he couldn't find the override. It's not on the helm!
Thank you! Yeah it's a bit taxing (I'm taking a break to work on some uniforms and another couple of models) but it's fun re-creating that look. The first three films, the bridges definitely had a look. Compared to the random buttons of the series, the consoles actually had a mostly planned purpose to them. Going through the operations and flight manual has been interesting to say the least.

Oh definitely the series had the 'random' buttons, but I was thinking more the buttons that may have been part of a particular station/module (such as weapons) which may represent IDK power distribution/directing (as I said WARP or the IMPULSE system) when really it's just a green ellipse. I guess you'd have more info from the literature whereas I'm just going from movie appearances. I guess it's handy that in later years they could just throw in numbers, lots of rounded rectangles and that circular D-PAD and voila we have LCARS! (I admit I've cheated in this way with my textures ).
But yeah once again, inspirational work and continue to do so regardless what model/render it is .

Oh yeah, there's so much random garbage thrown into the LCARS to make them more advanced looking when it doesn't mean anything at all.
I've absolutely done that with LCARS. I find they're infinitely easier to fudge than the TMP controls. Probably designed that way on purpose.
Thank you!

Looks awesome.
I'm guessing you're thinking of filleting the panel edges, opposed to chamfering them?

Hard to tell on most of them due to the color, but none of the panels have a straight side. But yeah if I go for 'flat' control panels for most of this instead of everything modeled it'll be textured and then I'll be doing that for each panel before I put the texture on top.

From my my side of the Phase II camp, I would say going on full-on CG-touchpads for the interface controls would be just fine for the sake of rendering things quickly and efficiently. Plus, the precedent for this is already there as CG-touchpads are the future anyway.

True. After I build the physical version of the controls I can go back with the renders and turn them all flat and digital

Ready for launch... Clear all moorings. Reverse, one-quarter impulse power.
Awesome!!!

I for one am glad to have you at the helm for three weeks. I don't think these kids can steer...
Thanks!
