It's for a "Mozenrath's magic" contest at
It's based on how Mozenrath floated things to him in the episode The Citadel. I figured he could probably shoot things away from him, too, with a little practice (though, it would probably have been more fun to just blast the targets with the gauntlet...).
Also, did you know Mozenrath's color is red? I thought it was blue, what with his blue outfit and the blue magic of the gauntlet, but I realized his true color was red one of the times I watched the episode Two to Tangle and actually noticed the red color that was used to represent him (plus, throughout the episodes, there's that red glowly magic that didn't quite make sense to me before that).
The chair/throne is from the episode Vocal Hero. I had thought about making a different chair, but ~eversotd convinced me to use the one from the episode.
I tried doing some layout things I'd seen in tutorials. Diagonal makes more interest, when dividing the image into thirds, things in those thirds draws the most attention, and I also tried messing with how light and dark the colors are by putting very light colors in the front, medium-ish colors for other foreground stuff, and dark colors for the background. ...The different shades of colors thing needs work. It's probably too diagonal and the colors are probably just annoying. I also haven't flipped the image very much, so I don't know what all might be wrong with it.
Oh, by the way... You can't see it here, but, every third targetboard has Aladdin's face on it.
And, assume it's a magic chair that he can move around whenever he feels like - that's why there's targets on all sides of the room.
Also, first time (truly) drawing Genie, and the two villains in the bg. I've sketched Genie before, but he never looked right. But, after looking at some references, it turns out that he's actually pretty simple to draw.

It's supposed to be Destane. ^_^ The clothes are probably the only way to identify him, though, since he's only shown as a mamluk. I tried to figure out how he might would look earlier, based on his mamluk form.

I Noticed a Little Flaw with Khartoum. In Your Picture, His Eyes are White, but in the Episode, His Eyes were Red for Whatever Reason. Maybe He's allergic...to Old Books.

I did make his eyes red-ish, but it's a little hard to tell because of the size (and I probably made the opacity a little too low). ^_^" I thought the solid red was kind of odd, and figured it would look better as more of a blood-shot thing. ...but mainly, I just find inconsistancy annoying. I want everyone's eyes to look alike. I also tend to give Mozenrath irises and erase most of the outline around his lips for that reason.
Heh, poor guy being allergic to books and having to be stuck in one.
hm... I think the main thing I messed up on is the columns. The tiles on the floor got me mixed up when I was trying to figure out their shapes, so they're all turned oddly. With perspective stuff, I tend to focus on getting the little details correct, and can totally mix things up, like putting a vanishing point on the wrong side of a picture and having things get larger as they get farther away (I'd done that on two pictures I did before). For this picture, the roundness of the room was really frustrating for me and I was in a hurry and couldn't take my time. Though... I also think Mozenrath looks off somehow. I'd messed with his pose over and over when working on it. I think the upward lighting is part of why his face seems off to me now, though.

i notice the targets are not touching jasmines face at all he must have some jealousy that she belongs to aladdin. Poor Aladdin has the most bulls eyes

None of the darts have hit close to the bullseyes, for anyone, because Mozenrath is really bad at aiming darts. :P But Aladdin does have the most darts on his target. Mozenrath quite dislikes him.
About my Shoes fic on fanfiction.net, thanks for your review. I'm not planning for the story to go in the direction you're thinking, but maybe you'll like the way I'll take it, too. The next chapter has been really annoying, though. I've been toying with it for months. D: But hopefully I'll get it written soon.

And I'm SO happy you kept his throne from Vocal Hero. It looks awesome! And the concept with the magic dart boards, totally Moze!! LOL. You clearly put so much thought into this, it turned out way better than I thought it would just cause of how concerned you were about it, but it looks great!!

Love it! The angle and the lighting are cool, the concept is even cooler. Of course Aladdin has the most darts. Hahah and Jasmine is the only one who looks combative.

Jasmine's always like that around Mozenrath, so I figured it would make the most sense (I referenced her look from The Secret of Dagger Rock and The Wind Jackals of Mozenrath). While Genie's always smiling no matter what's happening, and Aladdin was confused when first meeting Mozenrath (though, I probably messed up Aladdin's expression here). Though... when I first skethced them and before I thought about using expressions other than just smiling, I think I still had Jasmine looking upset. I guess the only one I changed the expression for was Aladdin, who started out with that 'I'm so awesome' kind of smile of his. But I think I flipped Genie to looking the other way, so that all the good guys look in one direction, and the bad guys in the other. Just because.

Fnnghh the skewed angle on this really makes this, gives it an energy the alternate doesn't have; I think it's fantastic.
Also I think playing with the colors and the lighting really paid off too.

I'd played with the angle with a super early sketch version until I thought it looked pretty good, but I think I'd looked at the pic upright so much while working on it, that now the angle makes me feel a little dizzy. ^_^"
...maybe... But, then I looked at the other pictures, and I can't help but see this one link and think, "Awww... I want my pic to look like that one! D: "

There's something to be said for something with clean lines that happens to be color perfect, though. It's like someone adding new lyrics to a song but keeping the instrumentals and the pitch so on-spot that it takes you a moment to tell the difference.

Hmm... (pulls up the target placement layer) Well, it's either going toward an Aladdin target, or a target to the right (or our left) of that Aladdin target. ...I'm not really sure what direction the dart's going. :/ If the dart is going more to the (our) right, then it's going toward Aladdin. If it's going more straight ahead or toward the screen, it's probably going to the next target over, which I don't know. Aladdin's on every third target (with the most targets), but I hadn't really planned anything besides that and what's seen here. But, besides these, he probably has Amin, Iago, Carpet... um... sprites, and the muktar. Plus four more targets unaccounted for (there's 20). Could be a few repeats for some/someone that he finds particularly annoying, or maybe he'd include Eden, Scoroco, and/or the thirdac (despite them not having much reason for being there), plus one other thing (the gauntlet, the magic hourglass, the worms from Two to Tangle? Or someone like the magic shop keeper or someone else, who hasn't been seen with Mozenrath but who he has met off-screen).
...you know, for Aladdin to be on seven of the targets, Mozenrath seems to have an almost unhealthy obsession with him. (maybe Aladdin should be on every fourth or fifth one, instead) The iffy ones probably would be repeats for Genie and Khartoum, and maybe Destane, though, which would make it a little less one-sided toward Aladdin. ...Maybe I should make a finalized plan for who goes where for the targets... Well, you kind of have me wondering.

I'd wondered if anyone would notice him. He's supposed to be Destane, yes. ^_^ I tried referencing him from Mozenrath's first episode, though a lot of it's made up, since his face is almost gone.
Though... I wonder if Mozenrath would rather have his picture be of his mamluk version. (but, if the targetboards show how Mozenrath thinks of people (like Aladdin looking confused, and Jasmine looking upset, like Aladdin's first meeting with him and Jasmine's always being angry around him, then perhaps he'd remember Khartoum and Destane best in their human forms - though, he'd probably remember Khartoum best when he had the philosopher's stone and was fifty feet tall...)

That's true. You did a great job on referencing that. Most descriptions of him are different, but I like yours the best considering that is how I sort of pictured him and it goes along with the mamluk image.
Maybe his mamluk version, but I agree that he probably remembers him as a human best, I mean he's probably spent more time seeing him as the 'father like' figure and probably how he remembers him looking before he was overthrown.
Khartoum I could see as a fifty foot target to shoot at, but most likely that would bring up the fact that his gauntlet stopped working for a while thanks to him. I would guess that Mozenrath wouldn't like to think about that. So keeping him the same size as everyone else might make it easier. Then again, he is bored and more than likely won't care what they look like as long as they are targets to throw darts at.

I'd thought his boat-shaped hat was kind of weird, though I don't think it looks too bad here (maybe it all depends on how confident you look when wearing it).

But ~Dendraica 's version of him just doesn't look like the same guy to me, without the hat and with long hair. He seems too humble or something to me. But, he did wear all brown in the show, so I guess he wasn't one for a lot of flashiness anyhow.
Hmm... having a huge target for Khartoum would probably be easier to hit (he could put that huge thing on the ceiling, perhaps. It would be fitting). Though, I was thinking more like an average-sized target that only showed his nose and part of one eye.
...Maybe I should've put a scorch mark on Khartoum's targetboard. Kind of a 'Hah! Who has the power now?!' thing. Though, if he uses the gauntlet once, it'd probably be hard to stop. Kind of ruins the point of trying to perfect the floaty magic trick. (For some reason, I'd just wondered about Xerxes. I guess that after Mozenrath got to where he could move stuff quickly, Xerxes stays away while he's practicing. And after he finally is able to hit the bull's-eyes, he might move on to moving targets. Like disguised mamluks. ...It might make a neat written scene. I wonder if there could be anything I could make into a short fic. ...not that I don't already have a stack of Mozenrath fic ideas.)

That's a good version of him. Yes, the hat thing is a little odd, but I suppose that every sorcerer has their own style. I agree that other one doesn't quite fit without a hat.
I can see him trying to target poor Xerxes. Though sometimes that eel can be infuriatingly stupid and might deserve a hit or two from the gauntlet.
I'd like to read that if there was ever one written. A mamluk made to dress like Jasmine or Aladdin and then made to run around for him to hit would get in good practice.

I was thinking more that Xerxes would be smart enough to know that Mozenrath has really bad aim with those (unless he's not aiming). :P But he'd probably try to stay away after his aim improves, too, for that reason.
(hmm... some of Xerxes' annoying moments might not necessarily mean he's stupid. He's semi made fun of Mozenrath a few times, which may hint more toward some dislike of the boy than of stupidity - plus how I think he calls him 'master' to his face, but 'Mozenrath' to others. But, he doesn't fully think things through in any case, and may or may not be capable of doing so. But, I'm not really sure about him. I'd probably have to watch the episodes again and pay more attention to him.)
Trying to picture the mamluks dressed like Jasmine and others is funny, but I was thinking of more than just the clothing, like in the Black Sand episode, where Aladdin thought a mamluk was Jasmine up until he accidentally pulled her arm off. someone who makes a few unwise choices like mocking a sorcerer who has been
pushed to his limit. Maybe not dislike as more that he's comfortable around the sorcerer.
Who knows how long they have been together really? Maybe they have a semi friendship that
sometimes Mozenrath questions.
Oh, yes, I had forgotten that about the Black Sand episode. All I could picture was a mamluk
dressed exactly like Jasmine, which made me laugh. I think that your idea of the Black Sand
disguises are perfect for targets that way he would get the full effect of aiming at
something he badly wants to destroy.

Wow, this is really great! I honestly think this is better than the illustration style in the actual series. And good eye noticing that his "evil color" is red - I know that in the original film they tried to create the palette so that blue represented good and red represents evil.

Mozenrath's pose was super hard to figure out, from how I was picturing it plus the angle. It's semi-referenced from some photos I took of myself, and some thinking about how the head looks from different angles. His eyes and lips, I think the show's kind of weird for outlining them. I would've made the character's illustration's eyes in the bg more anime-ish, but it's hard to figure out how to translate them without making them look too different.
I did wonder about that blue and red meanings thing before. At the time, I kind of figured they probably were a bit lax about it in the series. Mozenrath's kind of complicated, isn't he? Disney should've written a book about him or something.
...I wonder if a person's color can change, or if it's just their color (it might be kind of weird if your color just up and changes. It's like, who you are). Like, if Mozenrath ever ended up changing sides, would his color still be red? And, why does the gauntlet seem to be blue, when it's definitely not a good thing? Hmm... There's also Aladdin, and his color being gold in Two to Tangle (which I've assumed means 'golden'). In the series, Aladdin's not all that good (and even in the first movie, he was a bit bad about lying and was tricky). Mozenrath's pretty much always honest, though. Or, perhaps the gold is more about the color of the sun and isn't as good as blue. ... Too many thoughts. But, it does seem like Disney had thought about Mozenrath, instead of just randomly having red instead of blue magic sometimes.

What look is it? I think I was going for just kind of neutral, but I'm not the best with expressions, so I'm not sure how it turned out. (I wonder if I should've pronounced more the distortion on the left side of his face from his hand... Didn't want it to over-do it, but I might've under-done it.)
