I'm not really into critiquing artwork, especially great artwork, but since there are only comments that praise this piece I'll try to be a bit more cynical about it. Before that, I have to say that this is great overall because of its simplicity of events that betrays complexity in context.
The first thing noticed is the texture, which gives me the impression of a more realistic expression regarding the ponies themselves with a more disheveled view of their hair(fur?) instead of the more orthodox look(hair is always connected and doesn't have strays except after a fight), which is a great appeal to those who want more expression in realism. A flaw that is really not too apparent(as is with almost every flaw in the piece) is the use of a more pastel look on the body. The head and arms are reflective of the light and we'd expect that consistency, but on the body that consistency is more or less broken- I mean that the chest area just feels colored in with purple without that same reflective quality that the head and ear does. It's not expected where the legs and right arm are because it's obscured by the front part of the body, but the chest specifically feels left alone since it's facing toward the source of light. I can probably excuse it because there could more hair on her chest to disperse the light, but then the hair there wouldn't follow the consistency of the rest of the disheveled nature of her mane.
The form of the main characters focus(Twilight's) is great, it seems the way ponies look like standing up. If there is anything "wrong" about her form in particular that I can say(I have two things to say about it), it's that the body seems more slender in the belly as if it was based off of a human, but I've seen that style before so it's not as obvious to the eye, but it is something that I have a bit of trouble processing looking at it. That's not the main concern though, the main concern I have is with the right arm(in her viewpoint). Her right arm is skinnier than her left and is a lot more blunt compared to it. Because she's in a spinning position, I understand that there would be distortion, but it seems more off than distorted. It could also be the case(please correct me if I'm wrong) that the arm is evaporating or dispersing as the bubbles around her indicate, but if so, it's still off because no other part of her body seems to be lost or dispersing besides her cutie mark which is more of a tattoo than a part of her body. Overall, her form is good, no huge proportions and only one bony/gaunt ones(which is the right arm, of course in my opinion).
The princesses in the crystal give a message of getting free from a cycle or some other symbolic meanings that I'll not get into because it would take forever, but because of that, it's something good to talk about(what does it mean? why are they there?). I also like how the cutie mark seems to be dissolving for the same reasons. The only flaw here is the lack of background to give context, but that can easily be waved off since it gives more rise to the imagination of what is going on than anything.
The last thing I have to say is that I really do like it, as does everyone. The flaws easily escape notice, and there are flaws just like everything in existence that we make, but they aren't given priority to the great piece, keep up the good work.

So, Critique writing aye? I can do that... maybe.
Too make this easy to follow I'll just go down those lovely ratings over there.
First off Vision:
This is probably one of the scores I changed the most. On my first look I was unsure of how I felt about the picture. It seemed faded, almost blurred to the point of seeming non-existence. Whenever I look at this I can't seem to focus on what makes it so good. Everything seems to jump out when I'm not looking at it and this is what makes it amazing.
Nothing about the picture distracts, in fact it does the opposite. So much of the picture draws the eye that you find yourself staring at it, looking for that little detail you missed. Truly stunning. The whole picture paints a story which each little detail expands on and that is what true vision in artwork should do. In this you achieved perfection.
Onto Originality:
This score is not as high as it could be due to the amount of pictures depicting the four princesses. However the specific way in which you laid it out, the frozen crystals hiding the view of the princess originally caught my eye and this brought a new flair that I wasn't expecting. The way Twilight seems to be underwater (perhaps drowning in doubt?) makes it even more interesting. Despite not hitting 5/5 of these it is merely because the base of the picture is one I see often. It in no way deducts from the beauty of the piece.
Technique now:
What can I say here? The lighting effects are beautiful. The movement of the whole piece is captivating and the way the colours of the crystals and the(water?) blend is absolutely stunning. I'd go on and on about how amazing this is but I wont waste your time. Technique is 6/5, absolutely perfect.
And Finally Impact:
This received the lowest score of the group because I personally judge Impact on the initial feeling the picture inspires upon me at first glance. And the way you blended all the different aspects of the picture together was so flawless that I almost missed the true beauty of this picture. The soft tones and light colours almost caused me to skip this picture however this actually makes the picture all the more beautiful in that it doesn't hit the viewer with something bold and harsh straight away. Impact being low is not a reflection of the picture being bad, merely a show of the attention required to find its true beauty.
Overview:
A gorgeous piece, filled with emotion and beauty. Subtle and graceful but lacking punch. This piece requires the viewer to search for the nuances which make up the artwork but once they are found it reveals how amazing it is.
10/10 for overall artwork. No flaws found in such a piece.

You want me to critique it? Fine, I'm sure I can find something...

... Oh?... Aha! I figured it out!
It's too good... Everything is just too perfect.... Yeah, that's definitely what's wrong with it.e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="454" title="Wink/Razz"/>
But in all seriousness, this is the most amazing piece of work I've ever seen you do (if not ever seen ever). I saw snippiets of the streams but I didn't have time to sit and watch it all this week, and this severely saddens me. Now onto the critique.
The movement and composition of the piece is simply captivating, astonishing, and beautiful beyonds my ability to describe it. The concept is shockingly surprising, mysterious, and it pulls me in to tell a story I wish I understood. The poses, colors, and textures all work together seemlessly. The insane amount of detail in the water, in her hair, in the ice and in the crystal bound princesses rivals the detail you've put into any other peice. As much as it's not detail that required a specific form or design, it came together as if it was. In fact, the details are so perfectly composed as to render the entire piece untouchable. The slightest change risks total disbalance of the delicate composition.
I don't write critiques often, and when I do, I rarely-.. no ... I NEVER give a score of this calibur. I can always find mistakes or errors, or something that irritates my OCD, or clashes with my sense of style, color, balance, texture, and beauty... But not this time.
So first: Don't let it get to your head. Keep improving your skills and understanding of art and technique. If you can make something better than this, oh please do so.
And second: Give yourself a pat on the back. You just earned a perfect score from perhaps the most critical of art critics.
Finally third: Please, for the love of all that is beautiful in the world, impart of your talents unto me, oh great one! *bows deeply*
Sincerely,
PiercingSight
PS: Just kidding about the giving me your talent bit... Unless of course, you, like... actually know how to... O.O

Hehe, I'm definitely going to try and get better and better. When does it stop? When there's too much Applejack. Everypony obviously knows there's never too much Applejack.
I was quite happy with this piece, something different than usual, but in a good way. Then to see the responses makes everything even better!
PS: So far I only know how to drain talents, of course.

Oh my...
I just took a closer look and I ADORE it. Maybe too, because twi is my fav mlp character.
I like the blurring and stretching effects of the bubbles and the shimmer of the three alicorn princesses to twilight's feet (well, I guess hers are there). Her hair is floating so softly, the expression in her face is so mystical. And that fading out of her CM really makes me wonder about the story behind this.
Is it just imagination or do I see tears there? And are the princesses' glances like the royal smile or are they sad? That's what I think here.
The crystals do have a really nice shape and reflections. Keep on with that.

Do you think you'll do more of these kinds of pictures for the rest of the mane 6? Because this and the Applejack one are bloody incredible

It has been something I've kept in the back of my mind, that if I come up with a good idea for any of the other mane 6 that just feels right, I'd expand this "series" a bit. Although the further time goes, the harder it feels to get the style the same. Although the emotion behind it is something I want to explore again some time. (Although it may not necessarily be a new character, or mane 6, etc.)

The only way Equestria could be saved was for Twilight to cast herself into the crystal web, wherein her body and soul would be stripped down and fed into the system, her sacrifice powering the weapon to stop the Ultimate Evil Thingy That's Really Hard to Stop Without Something Tragic Happening.

I...I've looked at this picture many times, and each time, the details floor me. It is just to the point of madness done...and then...I noticed you have the 3 Alicorn princesses in the reflection of the ice! Every time I've looked at this picture, never did I notice that before. It's an extraordinary treat to see such a level of detail that not necessarily everyone will notice everything the first time, or may never notice at all, for such a rare amount of detail may be perceived as one done out of pure love of art itself.
You, your art, are inspiring.

Hair is awsome,
Luna, Celestia, Cadence and blue crystals well drawn and interesting.
Is Twilight changing into alicorn?
It looks like underwater, and air bubbles, or strong wind and some fluid (crystal?)

It's not great the way your other artworks are. This is astonishing, mysterious... My mind is trying to understand whats's going on in this image and just can't, leaving me wondering what you mean with this piece, or masterpiece I should say.
My guess is that the image is static, leaving her alone in her power, feeling different because of her progression; a feeling that she can't share even with the other princesses, who are at the base of her new role, because they have been inside this job for a lot of time, so they couldn't really do much (they'll just say to wait, and they did in S4 actually).
But the title "Drop" leaves me not completely taking this as my view...
