Description
A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for TF: CYBERTRON Red Alert I scanned myself from the copy of the instructions that came with the toy, and then heavily edited by me.While I goes against my grain to do, much less support Hasbro’s attempts at ‘re-paints’ when very minimal is done to change the toys deco from the original, there are a few occasions I’ll do it. The difference is, if you’re gonna only change a toy MINIMALLY, the ONLY way it can even be halfway considered a success is if you manage to make it BETTER LOOKING and MORE DESIRABLE then the original. That’s where Hasbro has dropped the ball a few times. Case in point, the recent TFU Downshift and Cyb Override GTS. Those repaints are only MINIMAL changes from the original, almost to the point of not even being able to be considered ‘repaints’. More like ‘variants’. And IF they managed to make the changes slight, but BETTER, then it might actually be ok. If they managed to make TFU Downshift look even MORE like G1 Wheeljack, then I would want it. Anyways, you get the point. If you're only going to change a repaint a LITTLE, then make sure it’s a little FOR THE BETTER.
…So anyways, here we have Cybertron Ratchet. It’s got the same white and black as Red alert, but with the blue replaced with reds and silver. It’s not much different, but it’s different enough, and is an appropriate homage, to still be worth picking up. Ideally, he’d have stuff like “RESCUE” and/or “911” or “EMERGENCY” or something or other on him, along with some medical crosses and other such various medical symbols.

That's a great alternative from what I thought, you should try it because I can just see them now.

Where's Ironhide or Skids? This mold will work for them just edit the sirens and it should do.

Ironhide, i was originally going to make with Dirtboss, but I think CD Hotshot would really nail that "tough as nails" character. Skids, i WAS originally going to use this, but I think Overhaul/Brushguard might work better for him.

If they remold his head to look like Ratchet, or even just add that white crest to his forehead, I'd buy it.

...but until they do that, he's an unwanted redheaded stepchild of the repaint world?

Y'know, it's usually the simplest of ideas that are the best, and this repaint of yours is totally like that. A simple repaint of a great mold and you get and awesome homage. Totally didn't see it coming either, possibly because it's to obvious a repaint that needs to be done eventually. To bad it'll probably never see the light of a toy aisle. But as soon as I make the base model, it'll at least get a pixart.

I think it's one of those cases where yer so busy trying to imagine what to do to make it completely different, ya kinda overlook the minor change=vast improvement/homage. Well, thats the way i see things at least. and while it may not get a toy...(though if TFU was still around, between the tfu downshift & snowcat unrepaints, and the weak & minor repaints the rid car bros got, it COULDA been possible. sigh. d'ah well.) a pixart is the next best thing, heh.
