Description
A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for Armada Hotshot I scanned myself from the copy of the instructions that came with the toy, then fixed the head to turn it into Powerlinx Hotshot. The next member of the Stunticon team for the “Gestalt Project”, and my personal favorite from G1, Dead End. I’m not exactly sure WHY I like Dead End so much, all I know was that his few appearances, and what’s more, his few hilarious lines on the cartoon made me really like this character. Anytime he got the chance to speak, it was just to say how they were all going to die or be destroyed. It was great. You know…with the exception of Dead End here, I can’t remember a WORD any other Stunticon ever said on that show. I don’t even know if they bothered to flesh out their personalities on the show or not. But I know that they managed to give Dead End a personality at least, and even manage to make it stick to what his bio said about him and his mental/psychological problems. What a great guy. Well, since he was my favorite Stunticon, I made sure to take that extra time and get my homage repaint as perfect as possible. And how do I do that? By giving him one of the worst molds in all of Armada! Seriously though, Hotshot’s mold, crappy as it is, fits him perfectly in vehicle mode, and pretty damn good in robot mode too, so it was a natural choice. This is also the first chance I’ve had to use the Powerlinx Hotshot face edit I did a little while ago, and I must say, now that his head/face is fixed, the toy doesn’t seem nearly as bad to me, heh. So, in the end, I’m extremely happy with how this one turned out. It would definitely make me buy the Hotshot mold yet again, and that’s saying a lot, isn’t it?
You know the drill with the whole Minicon/Micromaster thing by now, right? Well Dead End’s Minicon would be Tracer. I know the colors are off quite a bit, but Tracer was the only Decepticon helicopter Micromaster, so that’s that.

Brilliant! Unexpected but inspired choice of figures! I didn't see this coming at all, but it looks great. I would buy it. Two thumbs up for this one, my friend!

Thank you, and yeah, i'm not crazy about the Hotshot mold myself, but with the right paint scheme, it can really make the figure not so bad. This is one of those times I think, and the upcoming G1 Smokescreen repaint of him is another. To a lesser extent, so it the "Hot Rod" paintscheme for Powerlinx Hotshot.
Even the worst figure can at least look good with a nice paint job I say.

The Smokescreen repaint is pretty awesome, I'm looking forward to it. It kind of looks like an early american colonial Hotshot. Yeah, clothes make the 'bot.

Y'know, it's a good thing you fixed that face up some because he would have looked so bad with the original Hot Shot's face. And those colors do fit the mold pretty well, don't they? And is that goldish color your new official gold color for your repaints?
And I'd like to say that for some reason the vehicle mode seemed of to me. I mean, Dead End looks great in his spiffy new alt mode, but I thought the yellow markings where on the passenger side of the vehicle mode?

Yeah, I'm glad I fixed the face up too. I really think the more mature and grim expression fits Dead End well. As for the gold, i usually just make up a new "gold" on the spot when I need it, and only if I can't get the exact tint i'm looking for, I go and copy it from my older works.
I think the part that seems "off" in his vehicle mode is the silver spoiler. His spoiler was the same color as the rest of his car in G1. I could have painted that part to match the car like they did with Arm Hotshot, but I tried to stick closer to Powerlinx Hotshot's paint aps, and so i didn't do it. As for his racing stripes, it spent a little time on BOTH sides of the car. I did it using a single pic i had and i put it on the passanger side. Then, after looking into it more, all his official artwork and pics have it on the driver side, so I had to completely redo it. But, since (I think) the stickers were applied by whoever bought the toy, not the factory, people stuck it on both sides, so it's pretty common to see it on both sides in actual toy pics. But officially, it's suposed to be on the driver side.

Cool. Still, you did a pretty good job with the stripes considering you had to 'paint them in' all by yourself with one a few references. You really are getting better at this stuff. (Which is kinda a given considering you have, as of this writing, 173 repaints to your name. )

Well, that's all i have online. Still have a good bit of unposted stuff too, heh. And as for getting better, i dunno about that. Not in the "winging my own paint aps" dept. This was pretty easy, since I could pretty much follow the nataural lines and curvature of the mold, and even then, it still took a LOT of tries, heh.
