Description While watching television earlier a conservative woman and a liberal male were debating the great depression when the conservative woman made the state statement quoted at the end... it was funny because the liberal man looked at her like.. HUH? Really hahahahha

Oh you silly conservatives, stop your madness....

Great Depression: [link]

List of Presidents of the United States: [link]

Senate Control History of the United States: [link]

House of Representatives Control History of the United States:
[link]

^^ According to the site it shows Republicans actually held control of the 72nd but it states β€œBefore the first day of Congress, 14 representatives-elect died. The results of the special elections caused party control of the House to change and Democrats organized with the majority of the House seats.” .. so that is why I said the 71st and not the 72nd in case anyone asks.

Goes back to my evil leftist cave of liberals, progressives, and democratic socialists searching for some truths in the hilarity in their absurdity

As always my dear comrades,
Let knowledge be that truth, which portrays humanity, condemns malevolence; that respects the differences in others while abandoning the hatred and misconceptions of the past.
-Emanon

Good day, comrades.

5 new comments, I assume you are going through my gallery so do hope you enjoy.

Well, the question or what brought about the piece was not whether or not it would have happened.. what brought this on is what a woman said on local TV that the great depression was caused by a Democratic President and Democratic congress and as such...which was her point was why we should not vote that way .. her comment was of course false which is why I did this piece..

So I agree it may have happened if all policy remained the same regardless of the party.

Ah, I see.. well I do hope you enjoy.

You know FDR was a conservative right? Conservatives are not restrained to one party whether Republican or Democrat, so what I recommend to you actually although a conservative party exists, focus on what it means to be one. for you maybe one and you may not know it.Β

Speaking of the time and ideology of what the parties and ideologies of the time stood for FDR would seem to fit more so the progressive platform similar to his cousin.

Though since this was made with respect to a woman on tv that made the claim of the Great Depression being the fault of "Democrats" being in charge thus the image shows that leading up to and a few years after the great depression that the Democrats did not control either the House, Senate, or Presidency for at least a decade.

Thus the title comes from that self-professed conservative.

If you refer to conservative as conservation of the country, sure.. if you speak to the neo-con view that many are plagued with today, then I would not fit said definition. Though I hold no idea that every idea breaks down to ideological simplicities ..for that is not how politics work - nor should it.

You do bring valid points But ask this, in the future just because one idiot who puts her foot in her mouth on national television is a "conservative" doesn't mean all of us are.

Historically us getting out of the Great Depression was a bipartisan job, and in the end, it worked.

In Reason why we got in the Great Depression, not a Republican or Democrat's fault, at least not in DC. That's the historic fact of the matter, it happened cause mass production was overused, there was too much supply and no demand, and from there the stock market crashed, and you know what happens next.

Do show me sir, where I ever made the claim that "all" conservatives or even a majority of conservatives are idiots? I made no such claim thus your premise of self-questioning on a premise never implied - - it was speaking more-so to those that hold to such view since sadly that was not the first time that I heard such an argument attempting to be made.

I spoke not of parties per se, thus the piece spoke to "conservative" which in America we have no actual strong party named Conservative [but many third Parties that call themselves or have Conservative in their name].

I would push back and said not Washington's fault. There is no "single reason" as to why the depression happened, and I say this not simply as someone that has studied this particular issue on my own, but also as someone that has audited several NYU and other classes specifically speaking of economics and the great depression. Now, part of the great depression was simply supply and demand - part of it was also tax and economic policy which we saw a similar correlation [please note: not stating that correlation is causality] leading up to our modern Recession.

So while supply and demand was a factor, it was not the all to end all with respect to the Great Depression. - There is rarely just "one thing" that causes an economic collapse of a nation.

I wasn't making such a claim. Neither were you. Just saying that someone more close minded would find it in the title, and the final statement.

America does not have a conservative party because conservatives are concealed among every party that is what a true conservative is, and there are many shades of this political hue, and that's the point I'm making to you.Β

in the last two parts I would say you were right on both accounts. but I'm going to have to stop this conversation however because I am a very busy person, if you wish to talk on this tomorrow though then we shall Talk but as for today I bid you good night.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AtheosEmanon In reply to ninjawerr [2014-05-23 23:27:12 +0000 UTC]

I try not to concern myself with what someone more close minded may or may not do.

Well we have VERY SMALL third parties in several states named "Conservative Party..." but they are usually maybe a dozen or so members and never even make the ballot to be elected on so that is what I was referring these these very small state based parties that A- lack the signatures to become a national party, and B- are not really known. Such as I am in New York.. you have a party called the CONSERVATIVE PARTY OF NEW YORK.. you also have a CONSERVATIVE PARTY OF NEW JERSEY... So with respect to the premise I made, I was speaking of conservative in this instance as in part of a title of a party and less with respect to merely ideological view - - yet the picture was speaking of ideological view and not a party.

I am usually on during late hours like this so you can stop by whenever you wish, have a good one. Thank you for the cordial discussion.

ninjawerr In reply to AtheosEmanon [2014-05-24 00:03:15 +0000 UTC]

So the Conservatives you put up with are just like the Liberals I put up with... amazing and amusing, This is actually Fun to know.

the ideological view the conservative is not that and that you're going off base, but if you're going after these people who you are referring to that case you hit the mark.

thank you very much for as well as keeping this decision courteous as well, I look forward to future discussions we may have in the future.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AtheosEmanon In reply to ninjawerr [2014-05-24 00:23:01 +0000 UTC]

Well I try not to classify those I deal with simply as such - - most of the self-identified conservatives and liberals I come in contact with online and in the political groups I am part of offline generally can be cordial even if we disagree on certain issues.. then you have those fringes that believe anyone who disagrees with them is their enemy!

Well I was speaking of the premise from the previous comment in that instance I was referring to party, but in general when mentioning simply conservative ... we are speaking of the ideology in an American view [since in my travels "conservative" in some countries would seem to Americans as liberals and the "liberal" parties in some countries would seem very conservative by American standards... the beauty of non-sticking ideological terms..

great, have a good one.

If you are in New York, the MNN Channel is where I saw the discussion which is a local network that allow new yorkers to air at certain times on their channel. I do not believe she is connected to any major Republican figurehead.
