Capuddle's evolution is still looking a bit awkward, so while it's not done yet, y'all can have this little guy instead.
This one alongside Dandyfowl and Squorm is among the oldest fakemons I've done. I've been holding this little fella for a while now, just had
to update it's design a bit.
Viscob is based on a character from "Sítio do Picapau Amarelo " (a 20th century children's book series that is to brazilian children
what The Wizard of Oz would be to american ones or Alice in Wonderland would be to british ones), called "Visconde de Sabugosa "
(literally "Viscount of Corncob"), a living corn cob doll with a huge intellect who dresses like a gentleman. I was unsure whether to make
it a grass/fairy or a grass/psychic, so in the end, I've made it the three of them!... If you get it with the Esper ability that is.
Well, hope you all liked it, and see you guys next time!

Nah, no worries about that.
All in all this is a very clever idea!
While once again I don't think the idea of this line would fit Tupama very well (not a matter of fitting the setting or anything this time, just of what I already have planned for the dex, story and routes, some of these would be a bit redundant), and I would like to keep the Bug/Steel beetle simple and stricly car based too, (a friend of mine suggested once for it to evolve into different types of vehicles, which I also rejected), but some of the ideas present here I actually like a lot! The Double negative and Wind Up are really good ideas, and Thorny Bushes is pretty cool as well!
I think most of these would work better as separate fakemons though... No need to hold them back and put them together in the same family lines, they're all good ideas on their own.
I REALLY like the Bug/Fairy one though, that's an fakemon I would love to see made by someone, it's such a cute idea. I could try to squeeze it into Tupama, but as I said, considering what's already in the dex, it would be a bit redundant.
Motor Drive is a really good suggestion for the beetle as well, and all those moves are really fitting for it too, I'll be sure to put those to good use, thanks a lot!
There's still a small chance for a new bug line beyong the bug/psychic (?) grasshopper, the bug/dark housefly, the bug/poison mosquito, the bug/steel beetle and a possible bug/ice mirror spider, but as you can see, it's already a bit crowded in here. I do like the idea of a bug/dragon pokemon, so....Maybe? Who knows?
I do have the evil teams planned already, and in fact, there's going to be two of them! We have a Magma/Aqua situation here once again fellas.

If I drew a rough design for the windup ladybug, would you make it?
Also, random thought, we could replace the car beetle one in the line with a mechanical spider as similar to the robot snake from earlier, people have made a robot spider that was actually pretty big. I mean we aren't using the idea, but if there was another region made, possibly connected to it like Argentina, that'd be kinda fun.
Also, I like those bug ideas. There hasn't been a Bug/Normal, Bug/Ice, Bug/Dark, Bug/Psychic, or Bug Dragon line, so many of those ideas could work. Plus, Double Negative could work for a Bug/Ice Pokémon as of all the quad weaknesses.
Say, what if you had an Ability the basically made a Pokémon's type weaknesses inverted? That be great for an Ice or Grass Type.
I know this won't be used, but I still want to share my idea of an evil team. What if Tupama had just converted to a democracy about a century or two earlier and the evil team was led someone who would've been next in line for royalty. Their goal would be for them to convert it back into a monarchy. His promise to his grunts and admins would be to make them in point of high status such as lords. Good idea huh?

Probably not, sorry.
Unless I judge that it could fit nicely in the region and decide to adopt it into the dex, I'm a already a bit too busy and posting stuff too scarcely to justify stoping the presses for now... Plus, I've already rejected free requests of less than that before, so it wouldn't be very far with some people...
Double Negative would be a very good fit for it, I'll consider putting it in!
An inverse weakness could also work, considering it's a MIRROR spider pokemon, I would say it's pretty fitting, huh?
If I end up using one of them (or both), I'll credit you for that, thanks!
Actually, one of my teams backstory actually is pretty similar to what you just described!
They're a group of rich bussinessmen and politicians, and are themed around money and fancy stuff, always dressed in fine suits and using shades, not unlike the MIB. The grunts even try to bribe the player out of battles (which you can accept depending on the situation for a quick buck). They believe nature and pokemon exist to be exploited, and not doing so delays the progress of society. Their leader is actually a little girl who is descendant of the old Tupaman royal family (who exploited the land and the natives when they conquered the region in it's early days), and believes the region has gotten soft and weak since the royal line ended, and wants to use the power of one of the legendaries to bring the region to a new technological age. (It's basically "let's make tupama great again" now that I think about it lol).
The other team is... Basically the opposite of all of that, now that I think about it, it's more of a Magma vs Aqua situation at it's core that I would like to admit.

Okay. What I was trying to say was actually to help you with it, not a request. Regardless, I totally understand.
As for the mirror spider, if we went with the inverse weakness and resistance Ability I'll call Reflection, I could see it being a very viable Bug/Ice-Type. This is mainly because Ice only resists itself and both types have many weaknesses. It would definitely be a great Ice-Type for any team. Any ideas for the design?
Also, what's he status on fossil Pokémon for your region? Have any ideas yet?

Yup, it's just perfect for it thematically and gameplay-wise!
I want to give it a mystic feeling, I'm going to share Viscob's Esper ability with it as well. It's a fakemon with two stages. I had in mind it having a crystal ball-like design for the first stage's abdomen, and a cluster of mirror shards for the second stage, maybe with some of the shards shining in different colors to make it prettier...
Maybe I could base some parts of it on a kaleidoscope as well, as long as I don't deviate too much from the original concept though.
The original idea for this fakemon was actually from a friend of mine, with his original pitch involving the first stage being a little spider that isn't adapted to the cold yet, so it blankets itself with it's web, forming a coat and a scarf. I much prefer the new mirror-themed direction, but maybe I could still give it a magical looking coat made out of it's web. Who knows?
They're already set!
The first one is a Stegosaurus with leaves and bushes on it's back. It's a rock/grass type, but it has a special ability called Ignite, so when it's hit with fire type moves the leaves on it's back combust into flames and it changes appearance, becoming a rock/fire type.
The second one is a rock/steel Therizinosaurus. Still not sure if I'm going to give it some gimmick or not.
The idea for both of them was created by the same friend who suggested the mirror spider as well, and their designs should be pretty standard from what you would expect from it, no references or anything for now.

Maybe the Theriz could have lead claws that when hit with a Fire, Water, or Poison-Type move, they turn to gold as a reference to the pseudo-science of alchemy. It could be Rock/Poison at first (referencing lead poisoning) and then be Rock/Steel (I know gold isn't technically steel, but let's go with it). Your thoughts?

I'm looking for a gimmick similar to the Stego for him as well. I've considered similar stuff to what you suggested as well, but I wanted something a bit more simple in explanation, something intuitive. It's logical that grass combusts into flames after coming into contact with fire, but I'm still looking for a similar analogy for Theriz's metal claws. I mean, I could just coat it into electricity or ice, or heat it or whatever, but all that seems a bit forced, if you get what I mean.

AtmaFlare In reply to RattleAndBolt [2017-08-21 04:54:41 +0000 UTC]
I think ice types. There's really not a lot of interesting concepts or animals around here to base ice type fakemons around (at least that I've seen for now), or not really anywhere around the world I've seen recently. In the ice-type department, Tupama currently has: The bug/ice mirror spider, a possible Delibird evolution, a ice/water regional vanilluxe line based around melted popsicles, a possible starter typing combination (so I guess it doesn't really counts then), and a possible pure ice or normal/ice husky fakemon (not that original, I know, and one of the starters is already based on a bushdog/maned wolf, so I'm considering dropping it so Tupama doesn't end up with two canine wolf-like fakemons. The maned wolf takes precedence.)

Okay, I have a thought of a couple ideas.
First, what if you made a snowy igret Pokémon that's Ice/Flying.
Second, what if you had a Ice/Fire macaroni penguin with it having
flames on it.
Third, what if you had a Grass to Grass/Ice banana slug that later gains a sundae on its back?
You have any thoughts on these three ideas?

AtmaFlare In reply to RattleAndBolt [2017-09-04 04:07:21 +0000 UTC]
All three are perfectly valid ideas, but two of them wouldn't work for a variety of reasons, let's go one by one:
1-A Igret fakemon would be a little redundant because there are already three stork/crane/ibis-like pokemon competing for a inclusion in the dex.
-The first one would be a Jabiru -based fakemon, it's a famous bird around here, but I don't have much idea of what I would do with it. (This one nailed it though)
-The second one would be a Spoonbill -based fakemon, he's also famous here, I also don't know what I would do with it. I really don't want to base him around silverware or make him a waiter or a chef either.
-The third one would be a origami-crane based fakemon. I had this one sketched for almost a year now, but I ended up giving up on it after Kartana was revealed. He was supposed to be the fakemon that represents japanese culture in Tupama, so if he ends up discarted I'll have to come up with something else in it's place anyway.
And since there's also a planned evolution for Delibird, we would be double dipping on the ice/flying typing. For all of these reasons I think I'll give a pass on the Igret.
2- I actually quite like this idea! I'm actually in need of fire types as well, so this would be quite useful (even though this could also work as an ice/electric type). I'll admit I have some reservations about making a penguin fakemon, and I don't know what I would do with it, but, I don't have a real reason for not to do it either way... So I'll definitely consider it! ;D
3-I think this is a really funny idea, specially if we went for the banana split inspired design. I like it a lot, but considering the dex already includes a regional form for the vanilluxe line, and we already have Cappiecake as a dessert-based pokemon for the region (and both of them would be appearing generally in the same area), it would be a bit redundant as well. (If I do change my mind and decide to make a new Toucan fakemon, he's probably going to be fruit based and have a banana-like bill, so there's that as well... )

Glad to see you liked the macaroni penguin idea. I had a couple ideas for the spoonbill also. What if you had a spoonbill themed after a shovel and it was either Ground/Flying or Steel/Flying? Another idea could be a spoonbill with a rake themed beak that's Grass/Flying or Steel/Flying. A third idea was to play off of the "bent spoon' thing with telekinesis and literally make a bent spoonbill and have it be Psychic/Flying.
Also, would it be fine if I could give some ideas for level-up sets for your Fakemon as well as new moves and Abilities?

I've gone and done a sketch of the macaroni fakemon. No guarantees I'll actually put him in the dex yet, but at least we can see what it could potentially be: Macarider
I've based the design around bobsledding (especially on those tight suits the athletes wear) since penguins like to slide on the ice and all that. It has a fiery and competitive personality, and hates to lose.
As it slides down on the icy mountains, the flame on it's head melts the ice ahead of him, creating perfect sliding courses.
A friend of mine liked the penguin fakemon idea, and suggested one based on a torpedo and on the Magellanic penguin, which I've also sketched: Torpingo
Much simpler than the first one. I'll probably not going to use it, people didn't like it as much, nor I would like to cram it into Macarider's evo line through forced means. I just thought it was nice to share. There's only room for one penguin on this dex!
Those are interesting ideas, I didn't have considered turning it into a shovel, it's kinda clever. I did had considered the bent spoon idea however, but I thought it would be a bit redundat with the Alakazam line... But now that I think about it, I guess it would indeed be the better choice... I'll ask some more people and think about it some more!
Sure, go ahead! I'll admit I'm putting very little thought into new moves and abilities, I make them as I go along. No guarantees I'll be able to put them in, but I would love to hear them!

I think that Macarider and Torpingo could actually be a split evolution. With a little bit of design changes for the torpedo penguin, Torpingo could evolve into either a more torpedo one or Macarider. It would actually work for an idea I had for two Abilities. They would be variants of Merciless, except with one for burns ("Open Wound") and one for freeze and paralysis ("Easy Target") since freeze is so rare. Macaroder could get either Open Wound or Slush Rush with Speed Boost as a Hidden Ability. Torpingo's evolution could get Easy Target or Swift Swim (cause it's an underwater torpedo) with Aftermath for a Hidden Ability. Your thoughts?
Also do you have any other types in need of ideas?
Plus, should we move this to Notes?

AtmaFlare In reply to RattleAndBolt [2017-09-08 04:34:50 +0000 UTC]
They have pretty different themes and designs from one another, I feel trying to impose a shared evolution between the two is a bit forced, both need to be their own things. And as I mentioned, people didn't like Torpingo very much anyway, not even the very guy who suggested it in the first place, they vastly prefered Macarider in general. It's not the first fakemon I've discarted after designing it, it happens.
Slush Rush and Speed Boost are perfect for Macarider! Open Wound is a nice idea, I just think a name change would be in order.
About the types, not that I remember right now, but I do need ideas for a few fakemons. I mentioned it some times now how some fakemons in Tupama represents some foreign cultures that migrated to the region in the past, and I still need a fakemon that represents germanic culture. It would appear in the southern part of the region, a mountainous and frigid place with european influences. My ideas for now include a a cuckoo clock, someting based around a Dirndl dress, or a german sheperd. None of these work for a variety of reasons, be it similar ideas already existing in the dex, or their obvious typings already being pretty bloated on it too.
Yes, please, this reply thread is already too massive as it is! XDD

I could, it's original name was even supposed to be a pun with it at first, Cornucoblin (Corn + Cornucopia + Cob + Hobgoblin), but people didn't react very well to it to say the least.
I would like to keep the evolution strictly corn-based though, cornucopia inspired or not.
What I had in mind for the design until now was a stationary giant corn sprouting out from the ground, with the corn hairs simulating a beard and mustache to make it look an old sage or a wise gentleman.
