Description DL TO FULL VIEW the thing is retardedly huge

MY UNNECESSARILY LONG PRISMACOLOUR MARKER TUTORIAL with really bad spelling

lots of ppl have been asking me how I colour, I hope this can help even tho its really hard to understand and im really bad at explaining things and i dont even know what im doing half the time

original can be found:

total drawing time from sketch to finished scanned copy took me somewhere between 17-25 hours

SUM FAQs:
what medium do you use?
Prismacolor markers [link] I own a few copics, but I prefer prismacolors. Their nibs are harder, and so it's easier to make strong contrasts and bright, saturated blocks of colour. Don't get me wrong, I think copics' soft, brushy look is beautiful, both markers have their own unique style, I just personally prefer Prismacolors c:

where do you buy them?
I bought my first 40-something boxset at Micheals Craft Store back in 8th grade when they had some uber sale going on, since then I buy them on Dickblick.com cuz they're much cheaper xD

have you tried the generic DickBlick version of prismacolor markers?
I have a couple, but i havn't had the need to use them yet D: from what i can tell they're pretty much the same tho...

where do u buy ur white gel pen?
Micheals. I live there. it sucks up all my money. it's bad.

what paper do you use?
- I like to use my Copic brand marker paper best, it's thick and smooth, and so allows for much more color absorbance is that a word?so it's easier to get smooth blending, but regular printer paper works fine too, since it's thinner it gets saturated quicker, but will result in different, but just as nice results : D
some pictures i've done on normal 8.5x11 printer paper: [link] [link] [link]

UHM, theres probably more but i cant remember. IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS, DON'T HESITATE TO ASK 8D

i started with just regular printer paper (like, ink-jet paper, not lazer-jet, it's too thin) and as i got more comfortable with the markers and practiced with them a bunch, i moved up and invested in the more-expensive smooth thick paper used for pens, inks and markers

I LOVE this tutorial. I just got into prismacolor and as a digital artist this is like hurdling into an entirely different world! I love it!!

But I have a question about the tinier nibs-- do they sell those in stores? >.< Or is there a way to change the nibs...? /omg super noob

Thank you so much for this! I've had a set of Prismacolor markers for a long time but I never got much value out of them because I didn't know how to get their full worth out. I only knew how to color in big plain blocks and that's it, lol. This showed me how they can be properly blended and layered and I'm super happy with it now I did some testing and finished a commission like this and my skills have improved so much!

I used to be jealous of Copics and crying at the price tag, but with these techniques, I don't feel such a need to buy those anymore.

Thanks again!

I really like how you color with Prismacolors. I'm switching over to Copics cause I never quite mastered the style of Prismacolors nor liked them very much for their lack of violets.

I was wondering what type of Copic marker paper do you use?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFF I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT USING STAMPS ON MY DRAWINGS

I feel kind of bad for taking the idea, though. We have so many stamps down in my basement, as my mom does a lot of stuff with Stampin' Up! and making cards and such. I FEEL SO BAD FOR TAKING THE IDEA FROM YOU...
