I am good till it hits PS, all I got is gimp which I normally use to fix up my pictures- but for gradient part how would one do that without PS??? The textures I just find images fitting and copy paste on a overlay layer on SAI.

This tutorial seems really helpful! I need to try some of that shading. But what is a clipping mask? I've never heard of that.

I have to ask though, what makes you choose to freehand lineart over using the Linework layer in SAI? Nothing wrong with your lines, as they're incredibly smooth, but I find when I use it, it makes lineart so much easier; it works like the Curve tools in other programs.

Is there a way to do textures with sai? I dont have the funds for photoshop.

Hint: GIMP n.n Hope that helps. Photoshop is much better, but GIMP is free, and can do textures.

I tried to follow this...but I don't think I did the line art right, and I got to the clipping mask part, and...I am so frustrated. I learn by people showing me face to face, and reading and learning aren't easy for me. I guess you can't help me with that...but... I wish I knew what I did wrong... The line art is gone now, and the clip mask is behind what was the line art, even though it is a layer above it, like you said to do... .n.

I can't figure out step 9..I did that but the character just comes out really faded? Am I doing it wrong or is it just the colour choice or something? xD

The only thing that I didn't do with this picture on Sai were the gradients. The rest was done COMPLETELY in Sai.
