I don't know why pointing out the lack of effort in a costume is considered elitist.tl;dr: If you have the time to make a dA journal complaining about 1, 10, or even 100 people pointing out the same flaw, maybe you should consider fixing it.
Even closetcosplay can look amazing with effort on a 50 dollar budget. No joke.

Yeah. It's not elitist if people criticize the COSTUME, but it's just plain douchebaggery when everyone bashes the person wearing it. It just really pisses me off when someone says that people should cosplay within their own race, gender, or body type. If you're too concerned whether or not you look like your favorite character, cosplay becomes a miserable chore rather than a fun hobby.
And that new show "Heroes of Cosplay" does NOT help our case. I mean, it's cool to see all the costumes and how they're made, but the people on there are so fucking elitist. -.-
With that being said, people should still give 110% into their cosplay work and try to prove the elitists wrong.

It together the day before cosplay is about fun so if you are having fun you are doing it right. Now if so one asked for help on how to make something better then tell them what they can do to improve it.

Store bought clothes are more expensive than raw fabrics and besides wigs are pretty pricey
