Description
Hi there! Some days ago I was having a hard trouble in my work and home, but it seems that everything is starting to go...well....more or less....the trouble is still not solved, but it's not so bad, so to speak, and now I have some time to post something again
And I chose to post this, is the colored version of this drawing [link] I finished this on August 2, 2010. To paint this I tested various textured brushes in Photoshop, and I'm pretty please with how the texture came out here! I love the color here! I love the purple tones, and also his green eyes, this character has a really a great desing!
In this one I decided to do a retro style coloring with a nice and soft background that can brings up the drawing in question, because I like very much that style of coloring, and in this painted version I included the eyelids cos in the first drawing
Well I'd like to dedicate this one to my friends and I hope they like it!

Awww...I just wanna hug this little adorable guy! Yes, Randall DOES have a great design; pity that Pixar chose to portray him so badly and not give him a chance to redeem himself, as Dreamworks did with their handsome green-eyed "villain".

Hhehehe thanks a lot mate!!! I'm so glad to see you in my gallery again!!
Oh it's a shame pixar portrayed him in a so bad way!! Oh wait...so pixar didn't gave him a chance to redeem in the second movie?? that's so sad mate!...I'd like to include him in my "Space patrol" saga and take it to the teathers someday, cos if I could do that he would be an hero and people would see him as he is! but well, that project seems so far away now *sigh*...
It's a great news what Dreamworks made with the dashing and so cute character of Megamind!!
I really loved the character and the movie to death!!!
Other thing, My friend, you recieved a note I sent you some days ago?? I'd like you can read it and help me mate, because I'm passing for a really sad situation and I'm near to go crazy, I feel so much pain in my heart now, and I need a wise advice from someone who really care about me!

We don't know how Pixar will portray Randall in the "Monsters, Inc." sequel, since it's not due out until 2012, and there has been absolutely NO official word from either Disney or Pixar regarding the sequel's plot, only rumors floating around the internet. We do not even know if Randall will be in it or not. Pixar has never had a "bad guy" make return appearance, but then, they have only had one franchise that has been sequeled so far, and that is "Toy Story". Pixar has also never shown a character arc, with a "bad" character defeating the "evil" within themselves and doing something good. In the Pixar world, characters do not change, not really. Once bad, always bad-that is Pixar's philosophy, apparently. I am so glad that Dreamworks made "Megamind", and not Pixar, since if Pixar had made that movie, Megamind would have been truely evil, beyond all hope of redemption, and would no doubt have died some horrific death, while Metroman remained the shining hero AND got the girl. In the Dreamworks version, even Hal still gets some justice and is still a rather sypathetic, if insane, character, and if you ask me, Hal was MUCH crazier and more dangerous than Randall ever was, yet he still winds up not being harmed, which shows that "villain", Megamind, to have been far greater a hero than Sulley was, too. HE could have easily decided to get his "revange" on Hal for nearly killing him AND his girl, AND his best friend, once he'd successfully diffused Hal's super power. He had the guy at his mercy, and a gun that could have zapped him right into his component molecules wih a twist of the settings and a pull of the trigger, yet he excersises restraint and lets the proper authorities deal with Hal. Pixar wants us to believe, though, that the "hero" should act as judge, jury and executioner and met out their own punishment to the "villain", which is so wrong.

No official word from Pixar about that, oh what a shame! I really was so excited to see Randall in the second movie doing something good and being the hero at the end!!...but sadly it's right what you say about Pixar, in their world the characters don't change and so they never have a chance of doing anything really ): And if you ask me I really hate that concept!! because it's a so negative idea!!! It's wrong what they make people think; that the "bad guy always will be bad" and the "hero" is just "born to be hero" by a "magic force" or someting, and therefore is always right and makes no mistakes, and is who always have to judge the others, and act as a "jury" as you said, who is cruel and don't give the chance to redeem themselves. And that is wrong because that doesn't bring any positive thing for real life, and also that's not the right concept of an hero, because a real hero is kindhearted, tolerant and patient, a real hero doesn't take revenge, but acts with restraint and compassion!! I think people need to see the other idea, the concept that Dreamworks did it on Megamind, cos people need to know they can change! that if you are an hero it's because you have that hero vocacion in your soul, because you do it by choice!
You CAN choose what you want to be!! That's what Megamind showed to me!!Because even if ALL the circumstances made him think he HAD to be a villian and to comply with that idea, he never gave up and at the end he showed to people HE was actually the hero!!! Because he chose to do so! That is a so warm and inspirational message!!! The message that you don't have to be like every people tells you that you are, but you can CHOOSE what you want to be!!! That's why I adore Megaming so much and I'm so glad that Dreamworks made the movie and not pixar!!
I adore how they portrayed Megamind in the movie, and I feel a so strong conection with him, because Megamind it's a lot like me; in personality, and also because people always told him he had to be a villan, but he actually had a hero vocation!! And to me people always told me I would be a looser, but I also have an hero vocation!! An I WANT to be an hero! And watching the movie made me realize I should not be a looser if I DON'T want to, the fact I can choose who I want to be!!....It was like an ephifany!! ...And throught all the movie I felt so really moved...the movie touched my soul in a really deeply way, because I felt myself reflected in Megamind's life....and personality too! Of course you're so right, as always!! I'm agree with you, Hal was way more dangerous than Randall would be, and Megamind would have been WAY greater hero than Sulley was ( and if you ask me, sulley is not an hero to me, he just appeared in the right time) And he IS a greater hero, a true hero! because he had the chance to take revenge and he didn't it! Instead of that he did the right thing, to take Hal to autorities so they deal with him.
Megamind have always got a hero soul and vocation!! As well as Hal always had the Villian soul! because Hal always had that evil in his soul, deep inside him; he just used to hide it behind a mask of a "shy and clumsy guy" because it was his convenience, but that was just a "maskerade" because when he can get some power he showed his TRUE self!! Many people to see the movie says "he became crazy and evil when he got the power of Metroman" but not, he didn't not turn bad, he already always was even!! The power just gave him the chance to show himself as he really was. That's the same thing that it happens in real life, when you give power to a corrupt, arrogant and heartless person, and they become corrupt police officers, or goverment employe or stuff, and people says "they became like that because of the power" but not it's not true, they always were like that inside their heart!
Thanks so much for your comments my friend, your comments always are so interesting, well-thought, wonderful and enjoyable!! And now this comment from you inspired me to express a few of my ideas about Megamind the movie, becuase I had a lot of trouble in these past days, that I really missed what I wanted to say about the movie, and I was frustrated but now I feel better cos at least I remembered a bit of what I'd like to coment about the movie, and I have to thank you a lot for that!!!

Even Hal, though, was a product of how others had treated him. He was nerdy and overweight, and got picked on as a kid and rejected by the girls later on. UNLIKE Megamind, who found an outlet for his frustrations and anger in his battles with Metroman, Hal kept that increasing rage locked inside him, bottled up, like a dormant volcano, giving only little hints now and then as to what lurked inside. Hal was no more born "evil" than Megamind was. When he ws given those super powers, he was certain that they would make him attractive to Roxanne, whom he obviously had a major crush on, because he thought(like everyone else), that she had been in love with Metroman for HIS powers. When she still spurned him, he lost it. Big Time. In a way, that is what happens with Randall in "Monsters, Inc." He had bottling up anger and rejection by his peers for so long, that when Sulley destroyed what he thought was HIS one last chance to be somebody and find acceptance at last, the Scream Extractor, and had "the kid"(Boo) dressed in a costume that was purple and scaly and seemed to be a direct mockery of Randall himself, it just pushed him over the edge. Something in him "snapped", even moreso than with Hal. Like all of us, Randall had a limit as to what he could take, and that limit was breached. We all are capable of that, whether some of us want to admit it or not. I'm sure that when Randall Boggs woke up each morning, he never thought of himself as "evil", nor planned on hurting/killing anyone. Like Hal and like Megamind, he too, was most likely a product of rejection and an outcast. He is the only scaly, repile-like monster in the entire movie, and the only monster who has what can almost be considered a "super" power in its own right. I strongly get the impression that he is of a minority in the Monster World, a being too different even in a world where you'd think differences mean little, much as Megamind was growing up as a strange, blue child with a huge head. Randall did not appear to have a family, either, no one to miss him when he was gone or question as to why the last monsters seen with him were now the CEO and Top Comic in the factory where he once had worked. There are moments, when you look into those green eyes, that you can see so much pain and loneliness there. How different would that outcome had been if Randall had found someone like Roxanne, who was willing to eventually believe in his inner goodness, yet not afraid to stand up to him? OR, how different would the movie "Megamind" have been if it had been made by Pixar, not Dreamworks? One thing is for sure, the title character would NOT have been redeemed and would NOT have gotten the girl! Hal most likely never would have made an appearance as Tighten, Metroman would have eventually destroyed Megamind and wound up with Roxanne, as Megamind would have been really evil in the Pixar universe, owing to his differences. He would have just been stereotyped as a nasty, alien mad scientist out to take over the world, a pest as the very least, and a real threat at the worst, something to be disposed of after threatening the shining hero and some innocent persons, just as Randall was treated in his movie.
