Locking the alpha panel? I don't understand what that means

"Lock Alpha" isΒ a brush setting (The default shortcut is "Shift+L")
"Alpha" is just another term for "Transparency" in Art software)
What it does is lets you paint on a layer, but you can't paint on transparent parts.Β
For example: If you have a lineart layer, and you want to change the color of your lineart, you can change your brush to "Lock Alpha" and paint over your lineart without going outside the lines.
Does that make sense?

I find it easier to use than Paint Tool SAI because of the various, preset brushes. Also I'm strange, and I can't wrap my head around using SAI for the life of me. *____* Plus a near endless canvas is a pretty cool thing to have, and you can change the Keyboard shortcuts really easily!
Do you really think I have? Because all I feel I've improved is my technical coloring skill (and even then, well...)
I still have to put EXP in my other areas like varied poses and backgrounds and other things like that. XD So I'm still behind where I want to be.
I don't think it'll be that difficult for you to catch up with me (if you practice regularly, that is)

I've been using Sai for the longest time and I see what you mean. I've been struggling with it too, as accustomed as I have become. Once I've caught up with my coursework I'll look into Mypaint. Suppose it's good to try out a load of different programs.~
And yeah..I've been uploading a lot to my dA page, not sure if you've seen any of it.. XD But I haven't noticed much significant difference on my end. *Shrug*
