My City of Villains brute gets the golden ticket from !

I'd seen a lot of 'Golden Guys' running around in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles and always liked the idea in theory even if I never much liked the characters I was seeing. I couldn't put my finger on it for the longest time but I knew it had to do with the designs - almost every GG I saw used the metallic set and just picked a gold color. Mostly, those choices seemed to indicate they were naked and the metallic face made them look like robots, even if they weren't supposed to be robots.

Goldsmith is meant to be a homage to the Silver Age Sandman and Gold of the Metal Men. A petty thug who gets blasted in an experimental method of cold molding gold bullion, Boyd Smith finds himself a being of organic gold. Since I didn't see the point in such a guy suddenly becoming immodest, I gave him a costume and used the sleek option to give his golden arms and legs a little sheen. Based on the compliments I get, I'd say this has worked to good effect.

Of course, I can't have his fists reshaping into all manner of maces and rams in-game but I love that its happening in this art. Jerry really got a feel for the character and it shows in this effort.

Since Goldsmith is rather soft and malleable, I figure most of his nemeses are 'normal' heroes for whom getting hit with 500 pounds of soft, dense metal might kind of suck. Sure, someone with super-strength could probably pound him into sheet metal...but I don't think he'd be that easy to catch.
