Description
full title: "A Guide to Taking Good Quality, High Resolution Stock photographs - Part I - All About Cameras"In this tutorial I'll explain tons of stuff. Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, focus, mega pixels, self-timers, etc.
(This is made for figure stock artists, but all sorts of stockers and beginning photographers can learn from this)
Full-view (zoom in) to see the actual tutorial. WARNING: Very large image! There's a somewhat printable version here: [link]
edit: Oh gods! I just signed on quick before I had to go to work and wasn't able to say thanks (no time), but now I'm back.. and wow!
And thanks to you for looking.
I have used camera symbols belonging to well... I've seen a few companies use them (Canon, Nikon, Pentax). But I've used them for educational purposes only. No copyright infringement is intended. Please oh please don't report me, I certainly don't make any money off of this.

Blessed are the teachers for they shall escape their own perceived ignorance. People become psychiatrists because they are trying to heal themselves. Teachers, we usually feel dumb. You have done in one page what many folks put in book after book. Bravo and I will send folk here to read.
Regards,
A lifetime teacher,

I am very new to this, and in wanting to find research on how to better myself (and also since I have been shopping for a new camera) it is hard to find something that is understandable...This is amazing and thankyou. I will keep this information to heart.

i am so glad this got a DD, because it damn well deserved it!!
this has HELPED.. you have no idea. I'm a n00b in the world of cameras, and avoided "M" so badly, because i didnt know what F and A were... but .. omg i am just so happy right now. i mean yeah i read the manual as best i could, but its quite confusing. you are just so PLAIN!!! thank you so much, dear.. i'm also a stock photographer, so i believe this will fix a few problems i have.. such as.. like.. barely any customers lol
if i could kiss you and were into that sorta thing, i would lol..

This tutorial is amazing. It really sums up all of the technicalities of photography. And it covers, to the best of my knowledge, the majority of essentials to stock photography. This guide has helped me to ice over my knowledge of ISO, aperture, and shutter speeds. I think I might start a stock account next week when I get my new camera delivered I've been using a 2 MP camera for the past 4 years, but next week I'll be moving up to a 7.2 MP camera, and I've been practicing with a traditional 35mm SLR. Your tutorial makes me feel a lot more knowledgeable and capable of my photography.
Maybe in your next tutorial you could focus a little bit more on the effects of exposure, and possibly include things like composition, white balance, and contrast (but manipulators can control most of that stuff afterwards with Photoshop).
This is an amazing tutorial that smooths out the path of an advancing art and stock photographer alike.

you've inspired me to take a photography class, and get a good camera...(all i can use now is my moms digital camera, which i think hates me)

you want to get to the menu somehow.. you can always go to the camera maker's website and download a a manual from there.

Haha, this is better than the explanation my digital photography teacher gave. To bad my camera is a peice of junk 3.1 with no modes, zoom, and the worlds worst screen in the world -_-

AttempteStock In reply to Jujufoot [2006-12-15 01:13:50 +0000 UTC]
Ahaha, that's pretty funny.. but i'm glad that it was a help.
don't worry about the screen, it shouldn't matter much. you should focus on what the image looks like when you take it, so to perfect it before you even take it.

I read through your tutorial but I'm still not sure about shutter speeds...Do you mean shutter speeds can be adjusted manually on the canon eos 350d? As in, you can make the shutter speed whatever you want regardless of lighting?

AttempteStock In reply to dippedFEATHER [2006-12-15 01:48:03 +0000 UTC]
i know this is super delayed reply, and you've probably figured it out already, but i'll answer anyways. yup! you can make it as dark or as light as you want, and nothing will stop you. :9 But this is only in manual mode that you'll have full control.
