Description
Now, the WOLF is a railroad infamous for its paint scheme variations, and certainly we here at the GSBW are hardly ones to dabble in business THAT personal. (We be loco-builders, not artists! XD) But, turns out we had a copy of an old WOLF painting brochure kicking around (called “How to Paint a Wolf,” as I recall), so we did this SA (henceforward the new abbreviation for Standard A, which is a darn awkward class name XD) up according to that. (Stock factory engines get a stock factory paint scheme. The tender and cab of this engine took a bit of modding for conversion to firewood handling (pretty hard to “shovel” logs through a vestibule coal chute XD), and basically the back wall of the cab had to be cut out for access to the tender. I was tempted to remove the cab’s side doors, too, for that more “traditional” look, but then figured, hey, on the WOLF, those things might actually come in handy if this fellow ever winds up in Alaskaland.
Hope ya like.

(Note: For all of these SAs that I’ve been posting, I’ve been putting them into my main gallery before putting them into scraps, as is NOT my style for posting repaints. Since this is rather likely the last SA I’ll be posting, I will be from this point on once again posting repaints directly to my scraps (and if it’s your engine I’m posting, I’ll leave you a note to make sure you see it). As good as some repaints look, I do hate to annoy people with pictures in their inboxes that they’ve pretty much already seen (though since each SA I’ve posted HAS been custom modified for its new owner, they’ve KINDA been like new pictures... but then, they’ve been the ones getting gallery status anyway. Hey. XD)

Oooh! that is a sharp looking steamer!
I wonder how one of these would look in ER&W colors?

Epic win! and yes, the "how to paint a Wolf" still kicks around our own shops as a basic pattern ^^ Kinda a "when in Doubt, grab the instructions" kinda thing XD
wow, the balloon stack, headlamp, and modification really give her a "tasteful backdate" look.
She actually reminds me of the locomotive in "Break-heart Pass" XDXDXD

Ahahahaha, I bet. XD
And thanks. The stack is rather intentionally squat so the thing doesn't get knocked off everytime the engine goes under an overpass (the trickyness of a balloon stack is a direct relationship with the size of the engine XD), but I basicaly tackled it the way logging roads did.
And eh, looking like the Breakheart Pass engine in't ALL bad, given the premise. XD

Could you do one for Sierra Pacific? I would like to see what you come up with. ^^

Well, Sierra Pacific is based on D&RGW & Southern Pacific. So I'm guessing that if we had a steamer it would be a cross between the 2, or based on one of the designs. So I guess just rig it up to look like a D&RGW steam locomotive (I've always liked the pilot plow for D&RGW [link] ).

Fair enough. (Just bear in mind, the SA is a standard gauge engine.)

You might want to do a W&A version of the Standard A. ^^

Oh, ok. That's easy [link] You can pick from one of these, or just go with black & grafite.

No Problem man. ^^
Well, Sierra Pacific would have been the modern version. The predecessor road is Denver Sierra Pacific & Western. So it's your choice, it can be DSP&W, or Sierra Pacific (reportig mark SIEP).
Or you could do like the C&TS, have the new reporting mark (SIEP), & class of locomotive on the cab under the number. While the old lettering (Denver Seirra Pacific & Western) on the tender with the railroads logo. [link] I have a logo to put on the tender like this K-36. I'll email it to you.

Hmmm... well, records tell me that this locomotive went into production in 1952... I assume it would indeed have been the DSP&W that purchased the loco back then? I can letter it however you want. "C&TS-style" sounds neat, but it's totally your call. ^^

C&TS style please. ^^ The locomotive would most likely still be around today in excursion service on the SIEP.

BTW, because it's in modern excursion service, that means it will need roller bearings. Instead of changing trucks, just put RB on the journal box covers. They can be converted, but still keep the covers for historical reasons.
