buying fur clothes is mass murder. I hope the discussion ended in ending fur trades where you live.

Fur actually isn't that bad. I can understand if you don't like it but there's no skinning animals alive or shoving them in tiny cages. If you were to skin something alive, it would be struggling and you'd probably poke a bunch of holes in the pelt. For future reference, those PeTA videos are complete bullshit. Absolutely fake! Fur is very eco friendly in that it will decompose when exposed to the elements. Faux fur will just get tossed into a landfill like a plastic bag or happy meal toy, thus adding to further destruction of mother earth.

It woudn't be so bad if the animals where stored and killed as they need to. For future reference, those things the fur industry say are complete bullshit too. Otherwise they would let people in. Like the meat industry does. There is no better way of convincing the doubting in letting them see it with their own eyes. It's so easy. Only the blue eyed buy the statistics a company made itself. If everything would be okay there would be no problem in letting an party free organization to have a look behind the scenes at least.
If you have any material that shows behind the scenes of a fur farm that is all shiny, show me. But if it's filmed by the fur company itself it's worth nothing.
Nuclear power does not cause CO2 but that still does not apologize for blowing the earth up eventually. Just duck in cover, I heard the company said...
For your own doubts that animals are never being skinned alive, just inform yourself about Asian fur farms. Try "Chinese fur farm" in youtube for an easy finding. It's not a pleasure to watch it when a skinned animal is thrown to the flour, gasps for air in pain, but it may remind you of what you are looking at when you see those nice relabeled fur items on the jackets in the store down the street.

The whole animal gets used actually. The carcasses left over get made into pet food. People aren't let into the fur farms because that may stress the animals out and that could lead to a grade B pelt. I'm not saying the farms are pretty but fur bearers are treated much much better than the meat bearers.
Those videos are in fact fake. PeTA paid the workers to torture those poor animals. I have seen those videos and they are truly awful, but it's PeTA's fault they were hurt so badly. I know they're fake because someone who was fluent in Chinese noticed that the people in the background were saying things like"why is he doing that?" and "he's going to ruin the pelt." Lol I took a year of mandarin and I could make out "why is he."
If you have such a problem with fur, why look at people who are simply trying to create a nice picture? It's fine if you can't think for yourself but don't make others put up with it.

wow I'm sorry that you really believe what you said. The rising stress level that might occur of the visit of a party-free camera team will never ruin a pelt. It's ridiculous.
See, it's not the main argument that Asian markets treat their animals so badly. Cramming them in tiny cages with no stimulation what so ever, keeping them in a high stress level because of the noise and smell of hundreds of others animals in the cages around, and killing them improperly is! Killing with gas and electricity from anal to mouth (long way for the electricity to go, not hitting the brain as it should be) which takes long for you to die, compared to two head electrodes on your temples (as done in pigs), or a shot with a captive-bolt pistol through your head (as done in cattle) and most necessarily a cut of their feet veins to they bleed to death. Because electrode shock and bolt pistol both are not 100% accurate methods for killing, the meat industry must cut the animals veins afterwards. Electrode shock and bolt pistol are only used to knock out the animal (according to the law). A pig or cow must be dead in 3 seconds, otherwise the law was not fulfilled.
Well if your tactic is to look away when you come across a nuisance that's your way. I'm sure you just look the other way when you see someone gets robbed or a dog is beaten, or someone is feeding the elephants at a zoo, or spraying Nazi graffiti. I prefer standing up for what I think is right, taking action, not looking away.

*sigh* There's just no arguing with people like you who aren't smart enough to make connections all by themselves. Fur is NATURAL. and fyi I don't buy from China. They probably don't treat their animals as badly as they do in those videos buy they don't exactly have a history of being nice to them either. Also, those stoles he's wearing look vintage. He's not supporting the fur industry by buying a second hand garment.

By "they" I mean the Chinese. By "he" I'm referring to he guy in the picture. And yea those sorts of fur garments were pretty popular in the 50's. Fur is pretty expensive so the photographer probably bought them used because he/she didn't want to pork over 3,000$ for a photo shoot.

This series is interesting. Something about the model puts me off... but there is a vulnerability in him in all these pieces that I really enjoy. I think that that feeling could have been amplified further without the make up. The fur against naked skin is really cool; I like the concept.
