Description ...you saved me."

Will it? Won't it? Who knows. But this was certainly drawn with their now-plausible relationship strong in my head.

Anatomy came out a bit off but, you know what? I'm okay with it.

I should warn everyone... I started out sober for the line-art, started on a bottle of wine for the coloring, and finished the wine bottle before I finished.
Not. Good. Judgement.

This had a little unfinished blurb to go with it, but in my state all I could manage was one significant line. All you need to know is Astrid kisses Hiccup...and it happens much slower than it did in the movie. And not on his cheek. And he maybe/kinda/possibly kissed back.

Probably my last action before I'm back on the island. It's been a fun 36 hours of freedom though.

Ehhh, no.....just...they have may entered the realm of plausble, but I'm not too crazy about their pairing still. Maybe they still need more growth considering they've only just (re)met. Find a relationship still too hard to believe at this point.

Their is something about this picture that feels...off, and I think I figured it out -- aren't Astrid's lips a little too big? Their is something about her that doesn't shout 'Astrid' to me...also, while I love how you did Hiccup's hairy manly arm, what about Astrid? give her a few battle-scars or marks; flawless skin, just doesn't do for her. A little more visible muscle wouldn't on her wouldn't hurt either, which she is bound to have; 'something' to let us know this is Astrid and not somebody else.

Ironically, the let-down hair which I liked partially fooled me as well; that said, I liked that you did it hear because she does look prettier like this -- reserved only for inside the house XD.

Hiccup I have no problems with whatsoever, he looks perfect

Damn right, Hiccup looks perfect.

I thought as I was doing Hiccup's arm-hair that I should just go all out with the scars and stuff. Long story short - I just got lazy. I really do have an aversion to details. The illustration part is what I love. The coloring I've only recently accepted because of my tablet. Details are slow coming. I just have a think for both freckles and manly-hair, so that's why I do them.

I just always assume people know that there's scars all over these vikings, and burns. And bad teeth. And split ends. Go medieval era

As for plausible (you should see my response to Fjord below), but this isn't something that takes place in Hitchups. This is in the future after they've gotten to know each other much, much better. In fact, I almost drew Astrid with short hair...but long hair is just super fun to do. And I really wish I had the whole passage in here damn you wine!, because this scene doesn't end how it seems like it would. It's a really bittersweet moment.

Hey, you're back already!

It's the details that make the picture! All those little things here and there is what brings everything to life; if it's difficult to do them, then try to think if everything is 'balanced' - for example, if Hiccup has arm hair and things on him, does Astrid do? if she has this, does he have that? what about the background? If everything compliments and has an equivilant, then in a sense, everything will work itself out, and you'd have essentially giving details

No Avanna, and this is important -- bad teeth, split ends and all that stuff was in the movies...but they weren't giving much notice because of the younger crowd. However, it's a huge HUGE difference when these things are mentioned right on paper - why? because none of these things are what you'd call 'good things'....these things add a darker, more real impression and we feel that....ESPECIALLY with burn marks which are traumatic and horrific no matter which way you look at it. What if one of Hiccup's classmates got burned to badly? Burn marks aren't little boo-boos that go away after awhile, some stay for possibly life.

In a sense, it's my same argument in trying to go a little more on the details - it helps paint a better picture on just how bad their era is, and it's not at all the fun cool place that it's commonly made out to be in media (the movie included, which extremely undertoned the danger, hardships and everything else, as you know) -- it's dangerous and life is short.

Oh, so this is another post-movie moment? That's cool...in general, my comment stays regardless if it's Hitchups-verse or not...they flat-out need to get to know eachother more, and Astrid needs more development, before their relationship will stop sticking out like a sore thumb. As I said before, it's not that a relationship is impossible....it just that unavoidable maturation needs to happen on many fronts before these two can really shine, and they'll be all the more better from it . Astrid has so much potential, she doesn't deserve to be short-changed.

I'm starting to have a thing for her long-hair as well; it gives her an extra sense of femininity -- only for Hiccup, and only inside the house, at night....when nobody's around XD

Oh, details aren't difficult for me - I always like a challenge. But I never go into drawing something thinking "I'm going to make this so realistic!". I just...draw! This was part of a sketch dump, I simply decided to liven it up a bit with some color. Honestly, nothing I do on here I take very seriously except, perhaps, Hitchups. Maybe one day when I'm bored (far and few between, those are) I'll spruce it up a bit.

Funny you mention in doors, because this particular scene happens outdoors. It's really the only place they continually run into each other, since they'll definitely never have a home life together. And this is definitely a "months after picture" possibly years. I have mental plans for Hiccup and Astrid regarding relationships...things that happen so far into the future they'll probably only stay in my head. But just knowing how things turn out really influences the way I look at them.

It makes me want to pat their heads.

Oh, one more thing...some food-for thought; I was thinking on battle-scars and wondering....how come we've never seen anybody with burn-marks of any sort? I'm not sure on the movie, but from what I recall from there, and thus far in your story, we haven't seen any yet. It would be for a powerful effect no matter who had them really. Prosthetics yes, but no facial or burn marks of any sort that I recall.

In fact, since we're dealing with fire-breathing dragons, it suddenly seems very strange to me how nobody, especially the inexperienced teenage trainees, don't have them. Toothless playfully blasted Hiccup in the movie, yet putting aside being a kids movie, the strongest dragon blasting him should leave SOME sort of mark...

Finally! Hiccup and Astrid in color and quite believable. This one is tender and deep- there is passion there, like in your pictures, but I sense something also filled with friendship and deep affection. It's like a slow burning flame.

Nice to see Astrid with her loose as well. And Hiccup (though from the back) looks like he should for his age with the arm hair and the beard coming in. You're getting very good at showing him wiht the high pony tail (though it's mostly come loose here) and looking very strong and manly, too.

"Slow burning flame" is a great way to describe them. This takes place in the Hitchups-verse, though from what goes on in my head, this point in deepening their friendship would have to come after everything. I don't want to spoil too much, but basically Hiccup and Astrid run into each other all the time, and seem to feel more and more comfortable around each other. I believe I called them 'drinking buddies' in a pm to you, which is what they are. It helps that Astrid can see Hiccup as a warrior of sorts, and that Hiccup not only had Astrid humanized by having her flaws shoved in his face, but got to start over in getting to know her. So, by the point this happens, they're feeling some of that "let's take the next step" tension.

And yay! I'm getting down that Manly Hiccup con ponytail

Wine is never bad judgement.

As long as it's good wine that is. xD
