Hiccup's eyes never opened, but he smiled."We did it," he whispered no louder than a breath. A hand lifted; fingers as white as the bed of pebbles he lay on reached toward his dragon's face. Toothless touched his nose to the icy tips and found the absolute chill of them shocking.

It was a dark and stormy night when I drew this. Literally.
Hiccup and Toothless defeat the Green Death. And survived. Victory!
I really, really hate these lying-down perspectives. Everything is off. The original sketch for this was done in my notepad - and I only really use that when I am trapped away from civilization. So I had no reference to make sure I got those annoying eyes right. Or the lips...another thing I'm growing to hate.
But the ambiance is ace

OMG YESYESYESYES!!!!! I love this!!! And why is Hiccup's hand (c) Sasquatch? Looks right to me... The only thing that looks a little off to me is Toothless' nose. Aaaaaaaaand now I feel terrible about saying something negative
Oh, and by the way, you are officially inside my brain. I was looking at your sorryboarding and other Hitchups illustrations again a few nights ago and I actually had a dream about Hitchups.....it took me a while after waking up to realize it was Hitchups but when I did I was like: O_____O I think I may be addicted..... The only reason I bring it up is because it was this scene. Creepy.
And now that you probably think I'm a total nut job, I'll say again, this is totally amazing!!!

I think I called Hiccup's hand 'sasquatch' because the original (which I've obliterated from the internets) had it waaaaay too big.
And you can always give me negative feedback, especially if it's honest. I did half-ass Toothless⦠it's always okay to call me out on it

Wow! I can see the changes you did for this! It really looks almost three dimensional and much more realistic. Great job! I dream someday you'll be able to expand this to also show more of Toothless in here. But it's perfect as it is.

It IS! Though that wasn't my intention while I was drawing it. I just thought it would be a nice scene to put into color.
Oh yes.... Hiccup came across many different kinds of drink and develop a bit of a taste for it (gotta give him some vices and all that). I believe a future quote of his will be, "Okay, but I'm not doing this sober". But he is very adult when that goes down, not to worry.
Have fun with Neil! We should compete. I had my first bicardi mixture at 11.

Holy, moly! YOu beat me to it! I was working on this, too, last night. My version is going up soon- a bit different message from yours, but the same scene. I have to figure out how to get ice stiffened hair colored so it doesn't look corny.
We had the same dark and stormy night over this way.
Hiccup's hand doesn't seem out of perspective to me. The back ground is stunning- just enough suggestion to be seacoast, but otherwise mystical. You got realism in there, too, with the soot stains, loose hair, torn clothes and some abrasians. I also have a better idea of how the new vest looks. And great job on the beard, too.

As you can see, I didn't even bother with the ice in the hair. The thought came to me, but I was too tired to attempt. I thought I gave it enough detail as is...for me, anyway.

I never think you are lazy in your art- you choose to focus on the faces and expressions, which is something many cannot do well.
I can see the advantages of the tablet that you can create something so quickly with such depth and emotion.
I guess for me the test is to try drawing ice believably. Each of these Hitchups drawings has been a way for me try a new artistic technique.
Will this be da header for Atoned Part I?

I suppose I just feel lazy when I see so many other clothing-details and whatnot. I can't wait to see how you manage that icicle hair. Maybe It'll give me an idea on how to do it myself!
