Description
Most Americans grow up learning that America was founded by pasty white English people who left Europe to escape religious persecution. And while that is true for the small percentage of people who settled in Massachusetts Bay, the Pilgrims and Puritans were hardly the first people or even the first Europeans to settle on the continent. The earliest Europeans were the Spanish, and obviously before them were the Native Americans who were now in a constant struggle to defend their wonderful cultures from the Europeans that wished to stamp them out. And a good chunk of that struggle involved the Assassins and Templars. The Templars, after nearly being wiped out in Europe during the Renaissance, decided to travel to America in hopes of starting anew. The Assassins were quick to follow, and sided with the Natives when they arrived, since the two groups had similar ideologies of freedom and justice that lined up nicely. The Templars sided with the Europeans, believing the Natives uncivilized and in need of salvation through forceful conversion.
The Templars established most of their colonies near where they heard undiscovered Precursor temples were. The first English colony was Roanoke, near modern North Carolina. Publicly, the colony was established to make money for England, but was really a Templar cover to find Pieces of Eden. The colony was run by governor John White, who left for England for new food and supplies in 1585, only to have his return trip delayed by the Spanish Armada. This caused his men in the colony to go mad from starvation, and the Templars in Roanoke began abusing the innocent colonists. That all changed in 1588, when a Croatoan Assassin named Kahente traveled to the island on orders from her mentor. Kahente had originally been tasked with finding a Piece of Eden on the island before the Templars did, but upon seeing their abusive nature, Kahente vowed to protect the colonists for as long as possible. Kahente’s kindness won her great friendships with the colonists such as Eleanor and Ananias Dare, the parents of the first English child born in America, Virginia.
In 1589, Kahente finally tracked down the Precursor temple, although the Templars had found it first. The Templar Roger Bailie activated the artifact within, accidentally programming it to eliminate any organism on the island with English DNA. The artifact did as it was unintentionally told and let out a blast of energy that killed everyone on the island except Kahente, who was racked with guilt over not being able to stop the event. She carved the word “Croatoan” into a tree post as a warning to any that came to the island. Kahente fell into a deep drunken depression after that, and returned to Roanoke in 1590 to meet John White, who had finally been allowed to return from England. She wanted to kill him but instead warned him never to return lest she change her mind.
Kahente left the Brotherhood after that, the guilt to much for her to handle. She spent her days either drinking or pleasuring anyone who'd take the offer. It was only until 1595, when she gave birth to twins, that she finally snapped out of it, the responsibility of raising her children overriding the pain she felt. Sobered up with a newfound will to fight, she returned to the mentor, Chief Wahunsenacawh (called Powhatan by the English), and she was welcomed back to the Assassins with open arms. Kahente took a motherly role to Powhatan’s daughter, Pocahontas, and the two eventually became inseparable.
In 1607, the Virginia Company established the first permanent English settlement in America at Jamestown, Virginia. Their governor, a Templar named John Smith, was captured by the Assassins and would have been executed had it not been for the pleas of Pocahontas. Kahente wanted him dead, but she loved the little girl too much to deny her request. Smith was returned unharmed to Jamestown, and relations between the English and Natives actually did improve soon after. But, Smith was returned to England after a gunpowder accident, and the Templars continued their characteristic abuse of power. The Templars captured Pocahontas in 1613 and corrupted her to join their ranks. Kahente was heartbroken by this betrayal, and knew she had to follow Pocahontas to England in 1616. After several failed attempts to win back her allegiance, Kahente was forced to kill the girl she once treated as a daughter in March of 1617.
Kahente arrived back in America in 1618, only to find that Powhatan had died. She took his place as mentor and continued to combat the growing Templar influence. In 1620, a group of Pilgrims and Templars came to America aboard the Mayflower and founded the colony of Plymouth. They barely survived the first few winters, and only lived through it thanks to an ex-Assassin named Squanto, who taught them how to live off the land like the Natives did. As thanks, the colonists held a grand feast with Squanto’s people in November of 1621, which would go down in history as the first Thanksgiving. Kahente had Squanto poisoned for his treachery in 1622.
Things only continued to get worse as the English tried to steal more and more Native lands and by 1637, the Pequot War had begun between the two groups. Later that year, the English Templars burned down a Native village in Mystic in what would be called the Mystic Massacre. Kahente was killed in that event while trying to save the innocent villagers, and her children and grandchildren carried on the fight in her honor. Later, in 1675, Chief Metacom led Native forces against New England colonists in what the English called King Philip’s War. The brutal fight lasted for two years until the Templars killed Metacom and won the War.
The Assassins and the Natives continued to get overwhelmed as the Templars continued their expansion westward. And to the Natives’ dismay, it was clear that the English were here to stay. In 1665, the English captured the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam, renaming it New York. In 1681, William Penn was granted control of Pennsylvania, where things were actually quite better since the local Quakers were generally much more tolerant of people, including Native Americans, and vehemently opposed slavery. But when Penn left the colony... yeah things got sucky again. Meanwhile in Virginia, an armed uprising led by the Templar Nathaniel Bacon in 1676 threatened the Assassin-influenced governor, William Berkeley. Bacon was mad because Berkeley told the colonists they couldn't keep massacring Natives and stealing their lands. Bacon burned down Jamestown and made himself ruler of the colony but his uprising was quelled by a fleet of English warships and he himself was poisoned by the Assassins.
So yeah. While a lot of Americans like to imagine their country as being founded on ideals of freedom and fairness and whatnot... yeah no. What we think of as America was founded on the same imperialistic, discriminatory, and unequal ideals that the rest of Europe held at the time. And America itself was founded by thousands of varied indigenous peoples with a vast variety of amazing cultures whom often held more fair and free ideals than the colonists ever did. And unfortunately things would only get worse for the Natives throughout the coming centuries. But for now we'll go to the opposite side of the planet, to a time and place that also often dramatized in people's imaginations: Japan.

Hey there again I hope your doing great. Kinda had a depressing day. But I was hoping to fill your mind with historical knowledge. Referring to this pic I love it, it's so amazing and that shading though. And I likes how you interpret the interactions between the colonists and the Native Americans...but here's the thing. Contrary to popular belief not all Native Americans were friendly and peaceful. Heck before the Europeans came most Native American tribes waged war against each other and committed Genocide against each other. 2nd thing is about slavery. Yes through out recent history most slaves were African Americans but here's the thing. Again contrary to popular belief most Europeans didn't actually go to Africa to capture slaves they paid local African tribe leaders and THEY did the actual capturing and we're then sold to the Europeans still horrible though in every way. Also most people don't know this but White People were actually slaves at one point in history and that time was the Roman Empire. Yes it was mostly conquered Germanic tribes but still the fact remains. Lastly I'm looking forward and is a bit afraid for the American Revolution pic. Not because of the pic itself but the description i know you don't have the brightest opinion of American History and don't get me wrong we have done alot of fucked up shit but I think the amount of good outweighs the bad and so I'm not telling you what to write and if you do write something like this that's fine and guess what I'll still love it but I just hope that you don't disrespect the founding fathers and those original pioneers who fought for freedom and Liberty. But guess what I still love ALL OF YOUR work it's amazing and I truly love it. And whatever you do I'll still love it. Also once again I can't thank you enough for what your doing for me. I'll find a way to pay you back belive me.

Heyo Sorry to hear you had a rough day, man. Homeowners things get better for you soon.
I am aware of all that stuff, but it really doesn't change my opinion on it Based on what research I've gathered, most Native American tribes, while having their faults, we're overall better than most European nations and empires. And slavery is just wrong period. It doesn't matter the origins of it, a human being should not be bought and sold like cattle. And I'm not even gonna touch the race stuff in this conversation lol
I'll just leave that on the note that I love love love diversity and that slavery in America will always be one of many shameful stains on the country's history, leading to centuries of unfair discrimination against the descendants of those who were put in chains. And I feel it's only fair to give you a warning, I don't have a lot of positive things to say about the founding fathers. Like I said, I take Connor's stance from the game. I can't look past historical facts. But it's just my opinion, and you've every right to your own. Just warning you though
You don’t need to pay me back, man. It's okay, really

I mean like I said I'm not going to hate on your pics just because you have different view points on the U.S and I'm still looking forward to the American Revolution pic because it's one of my favorite historical time periods. I mean I like might the founding fathers and our nation's history but I'm not going to hate on you because you don't. Your a cool dude. I just hope you respect mu opinion, I guess I'm a patriot lol. But I have too your doing such a nice thing for me, are you sure you don't want anything in return?

Okay man but hey If you ever need anything just ask okay. Also don't know if you'll take a recommendation from a scrub like me XD but you know how you put those famous quotes in your pics, I think I have the perfect one for the American Revolution "I know not what course others may take but as for me, give me liberty or give me DEATH!"
- Patrick Henry 1775
Kinda cliche buy you know kind of sums up the American Revolution in a nutshell. Also question are you going to do separate pics for the Industrial Revolution and Victorian Era or combine them?

That actually was the quote I planned to use XD I've got quotes all planned for every time period on my list. A lot of them were really hard to find though lol
I feel like the Industrial Revolution can't really fit into this format very well, since it just spans across so many places in such a long time frame in so many different ways. It'll have to be broken up into different time periods and mentioned when needed. So Victorian London would definitely include that.

Damn I guess I really hit the NAIL in the COFFIN!!! XD.... no okay. I'll see myself out. Yeah true that The Industrial Revolution spans many years but still at least in my opinion I would at least include it because if it wasn't for the Industrial Revolution we wouldn't have most of the things we have to do the electric light bulb Industrial Revolution the telephone the Industrial Revolution the car the Industrial Revolution the train Industrial Revolution you know. But I see where your coming from another question are you going to cover the many different things that occurred during the Age of Imperialism like the Opium Wars, Scramble for Africa, The war between the british and the Zulu and the Boxer Rebellion.

Right. I'm just saying the Industrial Revolution is extremely vague and arguably is still going on to this day. It's not really an event so much as a characteristic of a process. There's no real date that only fits it
I'm definitely gonna do the Scramble for Africa, and a few other imperialism-age stuff. I'm certainly considering the Opium Wars and the events that followed, but I'd have to do more research on it first. My Chinese history is admittedly quite rusty lol

True very true words. Though If you need info on the Opium Wars just ask me I know alot. Also I'm sorry for asking alot of questions but this is the last one scouts honor XD. Are you planning on doing the Unification Of Germany and Italy in 1870 (Italy) and 1871 (Germany). It was a big deal on the global scale seeing how Germany in just a few short years after it came about would become a big power and would sadly lead to WWI.

I'll keep that in mind ^^
And I don't mind answering questions man XD I like talking to people lol
Um, I can't say I've ever heard of those time periods I remember coming across some political unrest in Italy in 1848. And I was researching the time period when the Brothers Grimm lived (because if I see a chance to make a RWBY reference, I'll take it XD) and I remember reading something about a revolution that occurred in the 1850s. But I'll have to look into the whole Unification thing.

Le gasp. I have a chance to teach history. Okay my senpai gather round and let me tell you about how the modern-day nations of Germany and Italy came about. Now as you know ever since the Roman Empire fell in 476 it had been ruled by the Roman Catholic church and have been divided into what we now know as Papal States. But during the 1840s there was a big nationalism movement all across Europe. People were feeling proud of their countries And the Italians and eventually Germans wanted to have a country of their own, a flag to Rally behind and so the it was set in motion for Italy own founding fathers Mazzini, Cavour and Garibaldi to form the Modern Nation of Italy in 1870. Now with Germany on the other hand ever since the splitting up of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars what was left of it had become many different Germanic States and like I said during the nationalist movements the German people wanted to have their own country, so a man named Otto von Bismarck came along and eventually lay down the foundation for the modern-day nation of Germany also known as at the time the German Empire and Kaiser Wilhelm I became Germany first Emperor in 1871. Hope that helps

That's definitely a decent start. I'll dig around the internet and some books and do some research of my own. I mean hey, I'm always looking for potential fanfic settings anyway XD And lesser known time periods are always great because they help the story avoid being ripped apart by future AC canon from Ubisoft.

Actually, if you happen to know anything about Indonesian culture, that'd be super helpful. Like, I've been researching for months and have gotten a pretty good idea, but it's always good to know as much as possible

Indonesia huh. Hmm I think I can help with that. I don't know alot bit I do know some. Now Indonesia itself has had a lot of influence from a whole bunch of religions bit the two biggest ones are Hinduism and Buddhism. Also each individual Indonesian island has its own distinct culture and music like the most popular one being Gamelan music which was played by its indigenous people, it includes a combination of xylophone, drums, gongs etc. And the last thing I can remember off the top of my head is that there are over 300 ethnic groups living there though the largest there are the.. Javanese yeah that's it. I hoped that helped.

Yeah, that's mostly what I came across too The big advantage Ubisoft has over me (I mean aside from superior story telling and everything else essentially XD) is that they have the time and resources to go out to these places and speak with people and get direct sources. While I'm stuck in books and the internet, which are usually obnoxiously vague. I'll keep digging though ^^ Thanks.
