Yeah, basically.Β Except Oodako has all eight tentacles, while It only had six.Β Eight was too hard to animate.Β :/

The story goes 8 tentacles were too labor-intensive so they cut it down to six. It might have had something to do with time constraints.

The story goes, the animator(s) didn't have time to animate eight working tentacles for the monster before the movie's release, so he/they had to settle for six.Β

8 would've probably cost them the same amount of time

Oodako only has two scenes to his career, but it is an interesting creature. Gezora looked a bit goofy, but Oodako was portrayed well in both of his roles.

He almost made it into FINAL WARS, but...that didn't work out. *sigh*

I'd wanna see a movie on them, as long as the dubbing is good and the acting is good, and the monsters look good...

Oodako was supposed to be in GODZILLA: FINAL WARS, but he was dropped at the last minute. Gezora and Ganimes were considered too, but they too were dropped (Ganimes was replaced by Ebirah).

They sure do - and that's enough incentive to keep away from them.
I had that in mind while sketching this. I wanted the visual to be more than just a big octopus throwing its arms everywhere as attacks. The initial throught was, "What if it grabbed onto Big G's chest or something and started hacking away with that beak?" It might not do much to HIM, but it's a creepy-painful idea.
Anyway...insight to the artist, or something.

That, or Big G could stop roaring in frustration and start chomping squishy parts...which is to say, any part of his current opponent. Would you like the calamari raw or flash-fried?
Incidentally, octopi do have mouthparts...cuved, pointy parrot-beaks on the underside, at the center of all those tentacles. Beaks which can crack a lobster's shell. So if Oodako opted to challenge, Ebirah, he'd actually have a snowball's chance.

I was aware of the beaks. I was hoping watchers would be too, and realize that that chomper was probably going to work on Godzilla's chesty parts right now.
Hence the roaring.

I'm not sure if that's a good idea, considering that for the most part, that's only going to make the big "G" madder...

Agreed. But being as I've never reasoned with a giant man-eating octopus, I don't know whether or not Oodako is inclined to listen to me.

Good point, But something tells me that if Oodako is anything like his fellow Octopi, he'll be putting his ink to good use quickly enough, and making a break for it as soon as he CAN! (I know I would!)

Godzilla could just use his nuclear pulse attack and Odako will be blown to bits.

Aww, i don't think the octopus is stupid. Just a little misled is all.
Really great sketch this time- it's very dynamic with great movement and weight to the characters. And (dare I say it?) I think they're both rather cute too. Probably Oodako more so, just because he doesn't have any visible fangs to bare.

An giant octopus with fangs? *shudders* That's it, I'm never going back to the coast.
I guess I can't shirk the cute thing, huh? Oh well, the tough facade is over-rated. And hard to keep consistant.

hehe, don't get me wrong, as well as being cute for some strange interpretation of my own, it ALSO portrays quite the intense battle scene. I just have this knack (or curse?) of seeing cuteness in it anyway
