Description

This one was a lot of fun.

Referenced a lot of crocodillians and marine/aquatic/amphibious reptiles and drew this because I wanted to really try and sell the idea, on paper, what I imagine a Godzilla that is at home in the water as much as it is on land would look like, without overall sacrificing the original design and stay true to that as much as I could...while infusing some crocodile and alligator and caiman in there. I could do more, admittedly, but this was a sketch and mostly I just didn't want to think about it too much. It's been a while since I drew a thing just for the hell of it.

(This isn't the first time I've attempted this...but the first time I drew a Godzilla in the water like this, it just didn't turn out the way I wanted. This is much, much closer to what I was intending. Plus I got to use my non-photo blue pencil and red lead this time.)

I then drew the boat next to it, fully intending to make it like a trawler or fishing boat...but then, kind of on the fly, I decided to just put a little dude in it, and I think it made me love the pic even more. I liked the idea that this isn't a fully-grown Godzilla, it's an adolescent the size of a freaking whale that's just curious and wanted to see what this weird little floating thing is on the surface. Any excuse to draw a smaller Godzilla, I guess.

I will probably finish this sooner than the others...but I don't want to commit to anything yet, as I usually jinx myself when I do that.
