I've been drawing - a lot of kaiju lately.

Just one of several redraws/redesigns that I've been working on. Once I've finished I might go into more explanation on them all.

MINOR NOTE: This is actually an OC creation of mine. It is a kaiju, but it is completely original and based on my own ideas. I may have more to show off of this one in particular at a later date.

Based, of course, mostly on the black rain frog, of Internet meme fame, but taken 10000000% seriously by me in my kaiju creation, lol.

This sketch, though, betrays something I don't normally talk about in my design process: if you squint really hard, you can see the little stick-dude inside the sketch, who is there for a reason...because I try, at least nowadays, to plan kaiju around the idea that they can in fact be designed as practical suits. It's kind of my hope to build or help build a suit someday, and I plan for that delusion in just about every sketch now. Anyway...I imagine this kaiju suit would be more...steered? The suit-actor would remain standing inside a rather expansive interior and direct the suit with some kind of steering apparatus, like you sometimes see in more recent raptor suits that are built for like birthday parties and viral vids. I imagine the suit actor would either see through the eyes, or a transparent sheet on the front of the face, or would just have a dedicated screen inside the suit that showed a camera feed placed on the outside of the suit. The front legs would either be rigid, static objects with limited motion, or maybe can be occasionally moved with some minor pneumatic movements...or, you know, the guy inside could just grab a stick and wiggle them around.

I also like the idea that it can go into a natural hunker, which...makes me laugh every time I look at it.
