I don't feel like doing art trades with people that don't have good art :/
I work my ass off for 3-4 hours on a picture that took someone else like 1 hour to finish.

These are a few examples of NON decent art I'm talking about.
I don't accept Bases as an art trade and I don't accept scribbles as an art trade :/ It's as simple as that. That's why I refuse to do art trades with certain people... As mean as it is that's how I feel. Sorry guys
PLEASE feel free to put your opinion in on this. I'd really like to hear what you think about this

I used to trade with artists that have lower level art skills than me on my other account, but I'm now more strict and go for better artists to trade with. That's because I don't want to work my butt off on pictures just so I get a mediocre scribble in return. When I'm trading with good artists, I feel like I've been rewarded for my hard work

I made an art trade to a girl, I told her to draw 1 of my oc... Then guess what? She just recolored a base then she wanted me to draw 8 of her ocs.

I feel that some people ask for art trades to weasel their way into getting free art.

DA's age range skews younger than almost any other social media-ish site. it's not bad for little kids to be happy and confident about their art, even if they have an unrealistic idea of how appealing that art will be to people who are older and have more experience. it means they're having fun and will keep improving instead of getting discouraged and quitting. if you don't want a ten-year-old's ms paint art, be a fucking adult about it and let them down gently. they don't know any better.Β
also it's kind of funny that most of the people using this stamp are young kids and teenagers who have plenty of room to improve Β―\_(γ)_/Β―

In my opinion, it's really both art traders putting in an equal amount of effort in their parts that matters to me, not the time or subjective art quality. But I guess I like this stamp anyways.

I don't think that "decent" is the best term, but I do art trades with people who have the same "art skill" as mine. I can easily judge their art skill from their artworks, and if I decide that they're not fitting, I tell them that in a way to not hurt them. Or don't reply to them at all (sometimes it's better).
But definitely, I understand your point and I agree with it.

Everyone has different opinions on what is "decent" and what isn't. There are a lot of artists whose artstyles are loved by many but I hate them because they lack what I appreciate. I bet some people out there hate how I draw, but they have enough common sense not to tell me that.
It can take 5 hours for one person to draw a MLP:FiM pony, while the other will do the same much better within an hour.
I prefer to do art-trades with people whose artistic skills are close to mine or higher (but that's rare). Most of the time I do art-trades with less-skilled artists, but can I blame them? I've been an art school student for over 7 years (I didn't even want to go to art school in the first place, but I've learned so much over the time, I'm grateful), and most people I do art-trades with are only self-taught, drawing is only a hobby for them while it's going to be a major part of my future profession!

I....kind of agree. The wording could be different to be honest. Perhaps, "I do art trades with whom I want". I know I'm far from perfect but I've gotten gifts from folk that did work hard at their work and that's what matters. At that point, I give a few pointers 
And yeah, I wouldn't post the individuals' art like you did. You didn't ask their permission,so technically you're reposing art without permission. I'd remove your links. Otherwise, I understand your viewpoint and partly agree, as I am not a perfect artist and am still learning, but I'm at the point to where I can catch a few eyes from very skilled ones :b I'm the middle man!

I agree with this stamp greatly.
One of my friends who does art trades, well, even though I've seen him draw on paper , but not just when I ask him for art trades, but for anyone, he will just very quickly draw it with Flipnote Studio and take a picture of it with his camera, all to 'save time'.
When I saw him doing that not just when I ask him for art trades, but for everyone else, I was like "Is that even a fair trade!?", and that's considering the effort I put into making his characters look good.Β That why I stopped doing art trades with him.

I'm actually okay to have art trades with anyone, but i agree with you at the 'work my ass off for 3-4 hours' part.Β
I color and outline and put effort into my art, and it takes me hours to do some sometimes. I keep erasing over and over again, just to produce good art for a trade.Β
but as long as i know the other has put effort into the trade, and not just randomly scribble, I'm happy enough.Β

It's a fine line I suppose. If I feel that the other person is going to put an equal amount of effort into their half, then I don't have problem with it. If someone's just looking to score some free art without putting in any work though...

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong if one person works for 3-4 hours on a beautiful digital painting and someone else gives them a mouse drawn MS paint picture that took 1 hour to finish, because that means both artists did their part. The only way that this would be unfair is if one artist decides to take advantage of the other by turning their picture into a free request.

Well I understand how you feel, my art seems to take longer and longer every time I advance, (usually days sometimes weeks depending on the time I get with my life outside of dA), but I look at it this way. Think of it as practice to get better, and better.
It's wrong and cheap for someone else to skimp to get free art ,practically, from you, but the only one they are hurting in the long run is themselves, because they'll never advance as a skilled artist like that.
But if you still feel that way just wait until they finished their part since they are the ones who asked and give them back exactly the quality they gave you, crap. That's what I do, I don't start my half, unless I was the one who initiated the trade, until I see their half first, just so I know they do theirs. It's not fair at all if they ask for a trade and they don't even do it yet you did. At least do something dead beat, come on.

It depends.
If that is the person's style and they put ALL their effort into it, but it doesn't come out like some AMAZING person's work, then don't get all fussy, because they tried.
But if you KNOW that they can do better, but they don't put THEIR OWN effort into the work, then maybe you can do something about it.
It is a little heart-breaking to do an art trade with someone and have them go off at you for your hard work, you know? Hope you understand. :]

I don't think you should have just posted links to other people's art that you think is 'rubbish'. What if they stumble upon this and click on the links and see their art? They'll probably be crushed. Maybe you could have just done something yourself and deliberately made it 'non decent' as an example.

While I totally understand that there are some people who don't put all of their effort into an Art trade....It doesn't mean every person whose art looks similar to those "links" didn't put effort into it...

Well I have older pieces on there that I did work on seriously,
But considering how fast I have improved from then, there so old and ugly.
there was a long while I didn't post cause of tablet problems.
but then I posted 2 doodles, of adopts, but they were done in a few minutes, and have fat heads. xD
After that I was just busy with clearing my messages and cleaning up that account for the move on this one.
