Description Fai Ling LeBlanc was raised in the People's Republic of China in relative obscurity. The half Black, half Chinese girl had no idea her father was the American criminal and spy, Jean-Paul LeBlanc, alias Invictus. That is, she had no idea until a fateful day in her mid-teens when she accidentally stumbled across some old letters her mother had neglected to destroy when she fled the US authorities and returned to China. After finding the letters from her father, the brilliant girl began an investigation into her past.

While her mother and the ruling party were aware she had a genius intellect, they underestimated exactly how smart she really was. In space of mere months Fai Ling discovered the truth about her father and even the truth about his father before him that had turned him against his own country. Unfortunately for her mother, Fai Ling inherited not only a modified genetic code thanks to the Timothy Leary Project, she inherited her father's temperment. This time though the feelings went in reverse. Instead of feeling betrayed by the US, she felt stifled and discriminated against in China. She decided the time had come to escape to her father's land of origin.

Knowing that given her father's crimes, the US government wasn't likely to welcome her with open arms unless she brought them something they wanted. So, she stole a list of spies and double agents and arranged transport out of the country from the Triads. Her defection actually went far more smoothly than she'd imagined thanks to a telepathic agent in the NSA who could verify her story.

Not long after her arrival in the US, in a moment of whimsy she made the decision to put her genius to use as a super-heroic spy smasher and counter-terrorism crusader. With her incredible intellect, she designed a costume that enhanced her physical prowess, as well as being armored by an impact/energy diffusing nano-fiber of her own creation. Adding some offensive weaponry to her repertoire, she then embarked on a series of missions to protect her adopted nation. To tweak the figurative noses of her former homeland, she took her father's name...Invictus.

When the original Invictus finally escaped limbo and discovered his daughter fighting for the country he'd sworn vengeance upon, Fai Ling's life became very...interesting. Now, father and daughter view one another as arch-enemies and when they encounter each other, the combat is no holds barred.

That's awesome. Nice work. If I may, and I hate to say this, but when I first saw her I thought you drew her nipples due to the shading. I'm probably overlooking it since I like your work so much. Awesome stuff, brother.

Ah...no, I didn't mean for the chest plate to look like it had nipples. She's not George Clooney's "Batman". I simply shaded it to give an impression of volume to the breasts. I guess I'll have to be careful with my technique in the future.

And again, I could be being overcritical since I have such a high standard for your art.

Well, if I ever draw nipples, it won't be an accident. It probably won't be in a PG super-hero setting. Maybe in Gatecrashers! I'm not one of these puritanical numbnuts who's ashamed of the human body and I've drawn and painted plenty of nudes in my lifetime, but I try not to wander into superhero fetish work when I'm doing comic characters.

I agree. Fantastic design and a really neat take on a patriotic-themed costume. And the character's background really makes her sound quite compelling as well. Nicely done!

Thanks! I'm working on getting all the current members of The Cavalry done in individual entries before I go for the group shot.

I was going to comment, but UrsaMagnus pretty much said it. I'm a sucker for legacies anyway and this is a hell of a twist on the idea with a lot of history and an excellent backstory.

Well, I'm all about finding new angles for well-worn ideas and I'm glad you like the way I tweaked the patriotic hero concept.

Oh, yeah. All the flag-waving and cheers, right up until she takes off her helmet.

Hell it happens can't make everyone love it. As long as you love and proud of it that's all that matters ^,^
