A sort-of collab between and me. The original can be found here.
Surprisingly, the line-arting, colouring, and shading of this piece was much quicker than what I would normally take.
Thought that I might as well try out my shading skills with this mini-collab while I was digitalising her amazing piece. Tried a couple of things here and there, and it looks pretty good overall. I really ought to this form of shading more often in the future, provided that I actually force myself to do such a shading more often. X'DI do hope that you like this, Rain.

Glad to hear that you like the line-art of this piece, my friend~ I honestly swear, I still have no clue how cell-shading works. D; It's only a couple of shapes here and there. And that's basically all that I can understand! I'll have to do more of this cell-shading to at least have a grasp of how it works.

I've always wanted to try cell-shading, seeing how it can look to effective and neat. Though I can't do it with simple ole paint unfortunitely, or without a computer at all for that matter

Cell-shading doesn't have to come in varying colours like how I'd done here, in all honesty. o .o You could just find the lighter/darker shade of a certain colour (no matter how small the difference is), and voila~ Then again, I suppose that you're on your iPad at the moment, so....

But woah, that style there~ I see that you've tried a hand at cell-shading this time. ;D And the gradients in them does make the whole picture pretty, especially the dress and the parts of her hair~
Anyways, Aria looks so adorable in that linearting and the colouring! x3 It goes pretty well with the soft white borders that's around the semi-transparent parts of the picture, I'll admit. o3o Great work!~

Well, I can't just stick to soft shading all the way now, can I? ;D I ought to do more of cell-shading if possible, and I find it a surprise that applying le gradients on them is pretty simple. O_o
The semi-transparent white border thing was another result of my "let's try something new!" shenanigan. X'D It looked pretty good on a small degree, so why not size it up? ;D

Aha, so you've finally figured it out now? c; It's actually interesting to see that you also used the method as lighting, which kinda gives a glossy feel to it..? But either way, you should do some cell-shading more often. With a slight mix of soft-shading like I see on the gems of Aria's boots. xD

Nah, I was just lazy with shading and thought that cell-shading would take me hours to complete. X'D As for the glossy feel? I blame it on the layers of Overlay I'd used to achieve it. c:

Oh, well~ Honestly, I thought that cell-shading might've took longer to do than soft-shading since you gotta draw out shapes as to what you want the shadows to look like. Especially when one's attire has lots of folds and other details. xD Ah wells, at least you've done this picture in less than a day. :'D
