Round 2 of pink n' purple with everyone's favorite boy, Roy!

Roy is more-or-less the odd one out when it comes to his friendship with Dal, as he didn't like him at the start. At first, Roy figured he'd found himself another decent sparring partner (the other being Boom Boom), but quickly grew annoyed at Dal's reluctance to do any kind of fighting. It didn't make sense to Roy; the dude's got a decent amount of muscle, why not use it??

With each rejection of Roy's strength tests, Roy grew more and more irritated, before finally deciding that Dalex was nothing more than a coward. He could see the fear in the purple Koopa's eyes each time he'd invited him to the training grounds. What, was Dalex scared he'd get murdered out there? Please, the castle wouldn't have that many soldiers if they kept killin' each other.

A few more failed invites had come and gone before Roy finally gave up, grumbling to himself that the purple dude's cowardice was probably why the others liked him so much; he was too weak to say no to anything they wanted, as what they wanted had nothing to do with fighting.

Dal made no attempt to prove Roy wrong, even though he wanted to. A few weeks later, he got his chance, as two Chain Chomps broke loose in the castle, with Roy nearly getting crushed by one of them. Without a second thought, Dal pushed Roy out of the way, and took a beating only a sentient barking cannonball could provide.

When the person in charge of the Chomps was caught, Roy was ready for bloodshed. He didn't care that it was an accident- he could've been killed! His desire for a "fair" punishment went unheeded, as Bowser went for something a bit less violent, leaving Roy fuming with anger.

His internal rage didn't stop him from hearing a patched-up Dalex clear his throat a day later. Oh, right... Dal had saved him. ...And he agreed that Bowser's punishment was better!! What the actual fuck??

With a straight face, Dalex said something that struck Roy's core:

"Sometimes real strength is having power and choosing not to use it."

The whole thing was an accident. Not to say that the person in charge of the Chomps should walk away without consequence, but they didn't deserve a savage beating, either. Bowser knew this, and so did Dalex. And hopefully... Roy would get it too.

As a flailing nurse Paratroopa ushered Dalex back to the medical wing, Roy was left standing there, processing Dalex's words.

...Huh. Maybe there's a reason why the gang likes him after all.
