I know fanfiction isn't exactly the best place to go for examples of a character's awesomeness but Arad's Stardust-verse includes Shining Armor being truly badass. This is the kind of scene Shining pulls of regularly in his appearances there.

I'd mention that, for a military officer, his hair looks foppish and outta-regs as hell, but I've had a CO before who looked like he visited the goddamn salon. Officers do what the fuck they want, it seems--hence Armor's unshaven fetlocks, as well.
And he's not wearing a goddamn PT belt.
