Greetings...Well, this was requested in so here it is. I do hope it helps, if there's anything that needs to be fixed then let me know...
Tutorial made in MyPaint and Gimp...
(No commercial software was used in the making of this tutorial)

I have to correct you on two points regarding layers. For one, you can view layer in a window, just not with a preview. The hotkey for it is L. Secondly, with that same window you can move a layer up or down.
Otherwise, it's a good tutorial.

I accept your correction, though it more like an appending to my tutorial.
What I actually said was that layers exist though not in the conventional Layer Panel preview.
You were right in saying that was a flaw, I missed 1 word (it should have said not shown in the...) and will be correcting them as soon as possible. Thanks for your comments and I welcome them anytime!!

Wait a minute I understand what you mean now, its weird I never say this layers button in MyPaint 0.7.1 before, I see it in 0.8.0.
I should really revise this tutorial...
