For a contest... This is a theoretical mega evolution for Empoleon - probably a little complicated but I like it. Yes, the head is meant to connect, however, I needed to figure out the collar and the head itself needed a bit more detail than I could fit on something smaller. Among other things his crest needed a couple of ice jewels on either side of the main tine.

I was taking the original's lace pattern and working it into a more elaborate outfit, complete with random belts, buttons, spats, elaborate collar and knee-guards.
