Description "Quick! Take her to the hospital! I'm going to take care of the monster! ..."
With the black bars the image looks like a movie and makes it cooler

Ugh, I'm currently working at full speed and now I finally finished this one after a long time.
Remember of the WIP of my character Antonio? So here is he as little part of my actual image.

So, how can I explain this?

This is a little illustration of the time where Stella and Magnus, the parents of my character Starlet, lived.
There was the time (I call it the "Placid Time") where their home Crisis City had a long time of peace. Here and there were some little chaotic inconvenient things but it was settled soon. In that time Magnus the Hedgehog lived with his pregnant wife Stella happily together.
Until a monster appeared all of a sudden. It was a disaster because it attacked the district where Magnus and Stella lived. Although the district was evacuated and Magnus and Stella could escape from the attacks but they could hide from this monster for a short time.
And when the fate is going to be mean, Magnus had to confront with two problems: first, how to escape from the monster and second, unforseen Stella has gone into labour! D:
So what now!? As soon-to-be father Magnus needed to act quickly. Luckily his friend Antonio the Mink saw that both were in trouble and rushed to help both. He tried to stop the monster and Magnus had finally the possibility to take his wife to the next hospital...
You want to know how it ends?
Well, Antonio managed to defeat that monster and Stella gave birth to a healthy little girl ... supposing it had ended differently then I would have written the entire story of my actual character Starlet anew xDDDDD

Honestly, it's really hard to draw pregnant characters. I tried to make a good background but I failed with the details actually D: but I managed to make it fairly well. And a YAY! for the strange looking "fiery-lizard-like-whatever-Iblis thing"

Well, I am not that perfect story writer but thank you very much. Making lineless artwork makes a bit much work but I find it looks quite better
I took very much time till I reached that artistic level

You're welcome~ Lineless art for me is very hard, but it does look great if done well, like you have.
Ah, I know what you mean. Sometimes it can take years to get really good. I'm still practicing like most everyone else. ^^"

Well I think it depends on which software you use. With GIMP, Photoshop or something similar you can use as much layers as you need.

SailorMoonAndSonicX In reply to Azurelly [2013-03-12 21:43:19 +0000 UTC]

That's true. I think SAI can do the same.

Azurelly In reply to SailorMoonAndSonicX [2013-03-12 22:29:21 +0000 UTC]

Well I've never used SAI xP But I saw some people while they're using several layers so it might work.

SailorMoonAndSonicX In reply to Azurelly [2013-03-12 22:41:37 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I'm new to SAI myself, so I'm not sure. It seems you can use as many layers as you need, though.

Probably
I think it's a wonder of digital paintings to use layers

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorMoonAndSonicX In reply to Azurelly [2013-03-12 22:47:05 +0000 UTC]

It is. Very helpful for splitting up things to avoid doing things all on the same layer.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to SailorMoonAndSonicX [2013-03-12 23:01:03 +0000 UTC]

Not all about that. You can save your work in a special file that you can keep every single layer to edit later

SailorMoonAndSonicX In reply to Azurelly [2013-03-12 23:01:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.

Azurelly In reply to SailorMoonAndSonicX [2013-03-13 20:36:59 +0000 UTC]

But the little disadvantage is that the memory requirements are much higher as you save them as image file xP

Exactly. XP Loads of hard drive space.

Oh yeah, that's right.
I think since I've been here on dA my space has piled up to more than 4 GB xD
But I save them via USB-stick and external hard drive, too

SailorMoonAndSonicX In reply to Azurelly [2013-03-24 04:04:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow. XD
That's good to do! I have an 8 GB flash drive, but I have it nearly filled up. I need to clear more space out of it for extra art. XD;

Azurelly In reply to SailorMoonAndSonicX [2013-03-24 16:40:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's better to save all your files more than twice ... in case that something bad will happen to your drive and the works will be deleted.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SailorMoonAndSonicX In reply to Azurelly [2013-03-24 18:07:18 +0000 UTC]

That's very true. I should probably get another flash drive in case that should happen. I only have one.

My brain just exploded from the awesomeness.

I'm serious. This is such an incredible piece I don't even know where to begin. The fire lizard (which reminds me of the enemy class in Sonic 06) is a fearsome antagonist which actually looks capable of incinerating any opponent. The setting is wonderfully dark and the feeling is quite grim, yet heroic and courageous as well.

As the fires rage crackle dully throughout the background, the center of focus blazes gloriously. Something you've always had a knack for is color scheme, and I can't fully express what an excellent contrast in values you've made here.

Absolutely brilliant, Elly. Completely and totally excellent.

Azurelly In reply to Auxilon [2012-08-18 22:26:29 +0000 UTC]

Well, what do I have to say Mike? This is technically my best artwork currently
Indeed the idea with the fire lizard came from the STH 06 series. Also the story of this illustration.
Haha please I feel a bit too flattered That's right. I like playing with the colors having different effects to each other like the blazing background

Just a question about your universe

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to SpringsTS [2012-08-12 00:12:28 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's as follows, Springs:
It's a little past history of the actual story of my universe.
Referring to this image, it's the time approx. 14 years ago (somehow logical )
The city is still a dangerous devastated place after years. But still the citizens manage to get through the dreadful time.
And sometimes there are peaceful times. But it didn't take long. Approx. 4 years after Starlet's birth, Stella and Magnus lost their life as they protected her daughter from another attack from a monster ...

so, this is the prehistory very shortly told.

Haha well, most of the deviants commenting this images said to me how amazing the monster is Although I took hours for the character sketches and for the monster only 5 minutes
Maybe it's the lava effect I made it for the monster xDD

Anyway, thank you very much I did my best to make it special.

your very welcome ^^

Azurelly In reply to CelestialElement [2012-08-10 22:27:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, for me sketching characters takes a long time. To color this it goes faster :3
I don't know why, too. Maybe because you just want to make it proper without missing a detail C:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialElement In reply to Azurelly [2012-08-11 02:32:00 +0000 UTC]

Same here XD coloring takes me longer though ._.

Yeah and then when you Finnish it all you realized you missed a spot 8C
It can wait another night! I'm tired of working on this picture for today! XD

Azurelly In reply to CelestialElement [2012-08-11 23:28:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, then it's good to work with more than one layer. I draw particular parts of the images on a separate layer. Someday if I notice that something is missing then I can fix it

CelestialElement In reply to Azurelly [2012-08-12 02:07:05 +0000 UTC]

best day ever was finding out how layers work :,D
my friend is still learning how layers work XD

my mistakes are on the line art parts. it could look all nice till you look back and its faded or misplaced, try to fix it and it looks worse so you gotta start all over nearly happened on my beach picture

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to CelestialElement [2012-08-12 21:37:32 +0000 UTC]

Well I used at first ArtWeaver and Paint.NET xD Paint.NET was good in working with layers but it was a primitive software. ArtWeaver was better in making art though but the layers drove me into madness.
Since then I've been using GIMP. It works fantastic and I can work with the layers pretty good

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialElement In reply to Azurelly [2012-08-13 01:27:52 +0000 UTC]

I used MS paint for a while. Never mastered it.

Then used PS elements 7.0. Got use to layers and effects on that

Tried GIMP for lines but I kept messing up on it and was really confusing for me. :/

Then I got CS5 and works a lot easier for me :3 still learning new tricks to it though XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Azurelly In reply to CelestialElement [2012-08-14 13:24:34 +0000 UTC]
