Haven't painted anything for a while, so I thought I'd get back into it with a re-do of Blaise. Again.

I've developed the backstory a bit more, so its design's changed a bit. Instead of being a nuts-and-bolts creation, it's a prototype for a line of war robots intended to be mass produced, so I gave it a more robust design.

Basically, the country that made it -- Udentia -- has both a deeply paranoid public and a stupidly optimistic government. Their neighbor is a totalitarian state -- Banyara -- headed by an unstable dictator. Said totalitarian state is running into overpopulation and short on resources, and is likely to invade Udentia in an effort to expand.

The Udentian government is forbidden by constitution to conscript in case of war. So, a private security firm, ACE, begins development on "just-in-case" war robots, of which Blaise is the first -- They plan to sell the idea to the government, maybe coming out as heroes when the attack happens.

Only problem is that inside ACE is a technophobic mole who wants to sabotage the project. He accidentally triggers Blaise's self-defense routines by attempting to bomb it with a grenade, and in the process opens a door for it to escape.

Blaise is completely unarmed -- ACE is a little more careful than whoever gave ED-209 live ammo -- but knows how to fend for itself, and is running loose like a curious child with super-strength and bulletproof plating. Nobody wants Blaise to be public knowledge, because that could spread and provoke Banyara into launching their invasion. ACE decides to send an elite team to either get it back or destroy it -- They'd like their investment back, but they can make more either way.

Later on, Voltaire comes into the picture. I'll save that for later.

I gave it a logo in the redesign instead of a barcode and number, which made no sense if it was the first prototype. The logo is both an hourglass (representing how fast they must work to prevent the invasion) and two opposing arrows (representing a possible war).
