Description So. To all of you who did not see any updates from me in the past few days. Sorry.
The last two AUs were already posted before on deviantArt and they are right here:
Number 030 Rat King
And number 031 a CSI agent

And here's the AU for today, kind of inspired by the Resident Evil 6 game (Jake and Sherry campaign) and also the '
Léon: The Professional' movie.

___
She cursed, for the milionth time that day, as she tried to re-attach the friggin’ scope to her sniper rifle.
Artemis bought the gun recently, and everything seemed alright then, when the guy was putting it together for her.
Now she could clearly see that over the short period of time that she was using it, some of the metal parts got bended.
And now they weren’t fitting together.
And she even double-checked everything when she was leaving the motel room, just a couple hours ago!
She sighed in frustration, as the scope once again failed to attach propertly.
"You should get more traught." she heard an amused voice from her left.
She glared ahead, not bothering to turn her head towards the guy.
They were hired by two different people, for two different targets, and since this rooftop had the best view, they decided to share it.
There was no need to be rude. They were mercenaries after all, not some animals.

She didn’t really know anything about the guy.
He introduced himself as Nightwing, and apparently held no respect for proper english grammar.
He seemed nice enough. He was cheerful, liked to talk, and actually offered her cookies that tasted like heaven.

"I know a guy who could fix this for you." He didn’t seem bothered by the fact that she tried to ignore him.
"I don’t like anyone touching my guns, so thanks, but no thanks." She would do it herself.
She would have to buy a new scope, anyway - This one being beyond repair, from what she could see.
She managed to finally put it on, but it was very temporary.
The whole construction was a little wonky, and she would have to take that into consideration, when it was time to shoot.
"This guy is amazing, I swear." He continued, ignoring her statement. "He can fix literally anything and he’s fast at it too...He also doesn’t want a lot of money for it."
That got her interested. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
"Where can I find him?" She asked after a while, and Nightwing happily gave her the calling card.
Of course he had it in his belt. Right next to the cookies.
She rolled her eyes at him.
And then their targets appeared. They both got ready.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Nightwing nod his head at her. He was ready too.
She pulled the trigger.

____

At first she thought she got lost.
But the adress on the calling card was the same, so was the name.
But it looked…different from what she was expecting.
She thought it would be some run down, gun selling place in the bad part of town.
But here she stood, in front of a nice looking shop, that apparently worked as an antique place, sold parts and scrap, along with being a 'repair’ shop.

She decided to at least try. Nightwing seemed to know what he was talking about.
Just as Artemis was about to go through the door, they opened, and this huge, dark skinned guy walked out.
Literally huge. She had no idea, how did the man even fit through the frame, since he was taller than it.
He wore a simple, formal suit, and was holding what appeared to be a telescope case.
Perfect place to hide a gun, Artemis noted.
"Thank you again, Wally." he called over his shoulder, as he went down the tiny steps.
"It was no problem at all, Chunk! Feel free to come back anytime, buddy!" Came a muffled reply from somewhere in the shop.
The man went down the street and she finally walked inside. The bell above the door chimed quietly.
It was a small but high room with lots of shelfs everywhere.
On the tables closest to the door stood various lamps, frames, mirrors and all the antiques that the man here was apparently selling.
The shelfs on the walls were used for books, cds, vinyl records and various scrap parts and small knick-knacks.
The smell of old books worked soothingly on her.
"Just a moment, please! I’ll be out in a second!" Artemis turned towards the three desks, who were joined together and created a cozy little corner in the back of the room.
Behind the desks she could see doors, leading to some backroom, probably. The voice came from behind the curtain.
The desks must have worked as both the cash register place and as a workbench.
Then the apparent owner of the place appeared. He literally burst through the curtain, wiping his hands into some dirty rag.
He smiled up at her, and beckoned her forward.
"Hi! My name is Wally! What can I help you with?" He introduced himself, shaking her hand.
" Artemis." She replied shortly "I need help with fixing something." She wasn’t really sure if she could just say she needed a gun fixed.
"Of course~! Just let me see what the problem is~" He replied happily, and she put her suitcase on the table in front of him.
She opened it, before turning it towards him and watched in amusement as his eyes lit up and he started to ramble happily about the gun.
He carefully took it out of it’s case and quickly started putting it together.
The moment he had the scope in his hands he already knew what the problem was.
He told her that this particular scope was very good for the rifles that didn’t need to be assebled and de-assebled all the time, because the metal used in their making was very easy to bend.
Then he pointed out some other things in the rifle itself, that needed fixing. Like the trigger sensitivity.
She nodded her head. She noticed the problem with the trigger too.
"When can I come and pick it up?" Wally stopped looking at the rifle and looked up at her surprized.
"…What?"
She frowned at him.
"I asked, when can I pick the gun up. When will you be done with fixing it? A day? A week?" And he seemed just as confused as before.
"Um…Can’t you just wait like, 10 minutes? Why would it take more time than that?" He said as if it were obvious. As if fixing a rifle was no big deal.
So she decided not to argue with him. It seemed like he knew what he was doing, so she let him work, while she looked around.
They talked as Artemis was walking around, and Wally sat by the desk, fixing her rifle.
About their work, about how Wally actually retired from being a mercenary a few years ago - at first because he was out of commision due to an injury, but later decided to stay out of the field.
He liked what he was doing now, having his own shop and helping everyone.
("The big guy that was here before me. With a telescope case. What gun did you fix for him?"
"…It wasn’t a gun. It was a telescope, silly. I fix all kinds of things here.")
They talked about Artemis’s tattoo, where did she get it, why Alice in Wonderland design.
Their favourite foods, movies, music.
She paused at one particular poster on the wall. It was an enlarged newspaper piece.
'Robin and Kid Flash’ It said. It was about the two youngest mercenaries ever known. They used to rule the streets a few years ago, and they were one of the best.
One day they just disappeared without a trace. No one ever found out who they were.
She asked Wally about them and he actually paused in his work, to send her an amused look.
"Why? You like them?" He said that in a weird tone, as if it was some private joke that she was not informed about.
Before she had a chance to reply, the bell over the door chimed again.
"I don’t like this bell." The person by the door informed grumpily.
"I put it there just so you can’t 'ninja' your way in/" Wally replied cheekily, not looking up from his work.
Artemis saw a very tired looking Nightwing walking over.
"I hate you" he mumbled, to which he got a 'I love you too honey’ in return.
He recognized Artemis, and smiled at her.
Said some comment about being glad that she got traught and listened to his advice after all.
Snarky little shit.
But he invited her over for some tea, and she complied.
By that time, Wally was done with her rifle ("Sorry it took so long! I decided to clean it for you and give you a new magazine, while I was at it. This one is lighter and doesn’t need that much space either~ How much you owe me? Let’s discuss it over the tea, shall we?")
So Wally showed her the way into the backroom, which turned out to be a small room, with a staicase leading up. The upperfloor belonged to him also, and he had a cozy little apartment there.
So they sat down and started talking, and Artemis and Nightwing decided to maybe work together on the next case, and it could be fun and Wally was a great medic and informator, so he could help them from his place.
And they became good buddies, and some months later, they were the most famous mercenary team in the US.
They called themselves 'Museum Heist'.
